Would Ya - Could Ya Lighten Up?

On Sunday's we have a ritual, it is family day. I make a big breakfast and then, we do something together as a family.

Today the kids wanted to go golfing and swimming.

We go over to the course, get an XL bucket of balls and are having a great time. It's a beautiful day out and, there is a light breeze.

We get this father/son team behind us on the range and all I can say is OHMYGAWD!!!!!!

All this father did was scream at his son. This little guy could not have been older than 8. All his father kept saying was "You're such a loser" "You call that a hit" "I shouldn't have wasted my money on this...... I have better things to do" "Thank god we don't know anyone here, they'd all be laughing at you."

This went on and on!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even my daughter who is 8 said "Mommy, why is that man being so mean?"

No excuse.....

His son is guaranteed to have no self esteem. My heart breaks for that little boy.

I make a point every day to tell both of my kids how proud of them I am. How much I love them, how amazing and handsome/beautiful they are..... it's just natural for me to do that.

Well, we're off to put olives on our fingers and then play monopoly.

You should have 'accidentally' hit him with a golf ball

Maybe he's one of those dad's that thinks he can make his kid into the next Tiger Woods. No matter what, there's still no excuse.

hourglasses? You're BRILLIANT! Wish you could have come golfing with us..... we could have caused a few ""accidents"" his way.

There's lots of parents I see, who want their children to REALLY excel but, I've never seen it to this extreme.

Unfortunately it doesn't take intelligence and compassion to breed it just takes fast swimming sperm.

if your kids were a little older, you could act out your favorite scenes from "happy gilmore" and make sure that guy catches a club in the head or something.

I dunno why some people are that way with thier kids... My dad sent out mixed signals - I could never do anything well enough to please him. Even if I followed his instructions to the letter, the best I could hope for was for him to grudgingly acknowledge that "it's shit, but it will do."

But he also taught me to think for myself, to do things my way for myself, and to not give a damn what anyone else thought. He even managed to be pretty decent when I applied that lesson to him too. I remember the day he yelled at me for not washing my car to suit him. I hit him in the head with the sponge and said "It's my car, and it suits me. If you don't like it, you can wssh the damn thing yourself."

I Figured I had an ass-beating coming, but he just wiped the suds off his face and said "alright then." He got off my back a little after that.

I was always a mouthy little cuss, 44DD. I have no idea how many times I got my ass busted for sassing, but I do know exactly how many times I DIDN'T get whipped for it. I can count them with on hand!

mzhunyhole? I know, right? I feel the same way!!

five_speed? I was spanked twice.... once for throwing rocks (pebbles) at a car when I was 4. Then again for running out on our front lawn nekkie. I didn't want to wear an ugly dress my mom made me.

I also got tobasco sauce a few times when I talked back. OUCH!

Mom couldn't use tabasco on me because I liked it too much. She did make me eat dish soap for cussing a couple times... It didn't cure me of the habit, but to this day I talk cleaner than a preacher when my mom is in ear shot!

I coach kids soccer and every year there are one or two players who have parents like that on the sidelines. It was very hard to deal with at first. I finally ended up getting an assistant coach just to "coach" parents on how to behave at soccer games and how to deal with their kids.

The saddest thing of all is to see a kid who loves the game and the parent destroys that love of the game.
