Who's REALLY Behind All The Fake Profiles Here?

Before I say anything else, I want to make it clear that I believe there are lots of real people on this site, who really do get together. Got it? Good.

Recently, the guy who runs this site (but doesn't allow his name to be posted anywhere) posted what seemed like a serious pledge in his blog to make every effort to reduce the number of spamsters, fakes and pros who join this site to make money off of unsuspecting members. Anyone who's interested can look up luvpump's blog, "Thoughts from the CEO", for yourself.

He talked about all sorts of measures, but in the end he did nothing significant, and there damn sure hasn't been a decrease in the number of fakes. If anything, they are blossoming like an out-of-control fungus even more than ever. None of those fakes ever get deleted, either, unless someone complains about them. To make the site look good, however, they do occasionally ban profiles from real people who may have mentioned something like "sugar daddy" or the like.

One of his more inane remarks was his assertion that spotting fake profiles is very difficult. Since when? Anyone with a little bit of experience on this site quickly learns how to spot them. They use fake profile pics, usually stolen from porn sites; they want you to send your "email addy" because otherwise they can't respond to you, being a standard member and all; and a lot of the time their profiles read like a dream come true--with a lot of "prefer not to says" thrown in. Another thing is, they join the site in clusters, with several women suddenly popping up at the same time, with nearly identical handles, and with the exact-same profile language (no, I'm not talking about that multiple-choice pablum A F F provides for those too lazy to write their own profiles).

Now, I grant you that some of them are getting more sophisticated. One of the newest tricks is to claim to be married, and hubby just isn't doing it for them anymore. You could almost feel sorry for them, until you realize there are six other women in your area who, with the exception of their pics, just joined up and used the same profile language word for word.

I've also noticed that they're now trying to beat the profile censors by asking for your "e*m*a*i*l"...lol.

There are also women who join this site constantly who are quite blunt about being willing to exchange sexual favors for money--you know: "generous men", and all that. Some of them even say things like "outcall only", and the like.

Literally, these people are lying when they claim that human beings actually review profiles before they are allowed up. Oh, I grant you it's possible they review some of them--but by and large, they just have a little computer program screen them.

BUT THERE'S REALLY MUCH, MUCH MORE GOING ON HERE.

Like the tentacles of the Hydra, A F F has literally thousands of "financial partnerships" with porn sites. On top of that, they aggressively piggyback onto other websites' content without permission. Lately, they've taken to openly advertising webcam girls on this site.

So, let's review: (1) A F F doesn't do anything about fake profiles unless someone complains about them; (2) A F F does absolutely no meaningful screening of new profiles, else they would catch a lot of them; (3) real members sometimes get banned for innocent phrases to make the site look good; and (4) A F F has LOTS of financial partnerships with porn come-on sites.

Are you getting the idea yet? That's right: AdultFriendFinder is behind the majority of the fake profiles on this site for the sole purpose of getting a cut of those fakes' revenues--sort of a "referral fee" for helping them take advantage of unaware members.

Don't believe me? Think I'm crazy? Well, just start observing these things, and draw your own conclusions. Don't be surprised if you decide I'm not so crazy after all...

They'll never admit it, of course, but if you google the guy's name and "bad business" you'll find a lot of interesting reading material...

Yes, Princess, I have looked and seen those things.

I'm not surprised. And the email address I use for this website does get a lot of spam from those "webcam honeys", even though I've never contacted one of them. So yes, I do know A F F is to blame. It's a good thing that's all I use that address for...lol!

Oh, and your spam folder will swell with crap from the ancillary businesses, too.

oh are you sure that those webcam girls dont come from cams.com? cams is an affiliate of AdultFriendFinder.

wistfuljester replies on 6/16/2006 11:28 pm:
On the contrary, Shelly, I'm saying they DO--and I'm also saying that A F F knows it, encourages it and makes money off of them taking advantage of the guys on here.

Oh, wait: I just realized you were responding to my mention of A F F advertising webcam girls on here...sorry about that...lol.

oh its ok, but I think they are that. AdultFriendFinder also has had live video chat girls for a long time, and I think they just now started advertising for it, is all. You've probably seen the link on the home page under the 'launch instant messenger' that says 'live video chat' (in the upper right hand corner) or something to that effect.
