do people really worry?

i wonder... recently there has been a lot of talk about who gets on the "most watched" list here on AdultFriendFinder. i understand that it is nice to be appreciated, sometimes it is nice to know that your name is up there(well, i don't cuz my name never has been)! but really, does anybody care? is it important? i thought we all just did this as a way to vent our frustration and our writing urges. i think the most obvious solution is not to have a "most watched" blog at all! i think often the most watched are the ones who have made a lot of friends, or have pics that are particularly sexy! we all have something to say, let's just say it and think it nice that somebody might just drop by!

The only good purpose I see in having a most popular list is for people new to this area of A F F.

I know that when I first started looking at the blogs, it was good to be explosed to some of the finer examples of blogging as opposed to lame and transparent extended profiles. However, the way they are now calculated has pushed some of my favourites off of the 'front page' reducing it simply to a popularity contest, as you indicated.

Personally, I haven't cared for being a "most popular blog" - in fact, I deleted just about half my blog, reducing the number of comments, which pushed me way down on the list. I now believe it is much more manageable.

To me, one of the reasons for having a public venue is to receive comments from people who actually like my blog (as opposed to just liking my pics or wanting an excuse to say, "wanna fuck?") and then, in turn, having the time to respond to each of the comments.

I would like to see them start just having a random selection featured....beyond just the newest postings. Perhaps the way they now have the 'slot machine' with the 'most popular bloggers' pics....would be better served by a completely random selection from all the blogs. Or, perhaps, just using criteria like a posting within the past three days or something like that.

Sorry...didn't mean to write a blog-length comment!

Sorry, that 'wink' after "wanna fuck" really changes the thrust (no pun intended) of my message. It should have read:

" (as opposed to just liking my pics or wanting an excuse to say, "wanna fuck?" ) and then... "

Sometimes I simply detest the way that smilies are automatically assumed when the end of a parenthetical statement happens to be the 'shortcut' to a particular smiley.

::: sigh :::

Pardon me appearing to turn this into a discussion....

But it wasn't until I reread this exchange of ideas that I was struck, more than ever, with the fact that quality would best be judged by return visitors as opposed to one time comment posters.

Then again, A F F is in it for the money, so the more people they have signing on, the better. They probably do not much care about quality as quantity is what they desire.

Ah well...
