polarity and balance

winks at Night

okay - i was asked by Night to talk about the type of bodywork i do which is a mixture of deep tissue massage, polarity and trigger point. i studied craniosacral and reflexology as well and CS fits energetically into this piece so i mention it despite the fact that i use it singularly as opposed to in conjunction.

everyone knows the benefit of a good massage - and everyone knows that 3 hours later if someone hits you with a stressor, the benefits are pretty much gone. one of the reasons that i combine therapies is to enhance the body's ability to hold the adjustment in place.

reflexology is working the points in the feet and/or hands as they reflect the body's issues. for example, the kidney point is midway in the arch of the foot and about a third of the way up the spine. working it in the foot is useful when working the actual point in the back is either too painful or medically contraindicated. with reflexology the thumb breaks up small crystals (they feel sharp and crackly) to promote muscular relaxation and alignment.

polarity is based on energy meridians much like acupuncture (about 75% comparable for points) and has a rich aruyvedic connection. there are three types of touch (a hold or cupping, a soft rolling or a deeper point work). you can work a muscle, an area, the chakras or an element (wind, water, etc) based on the diagnosis of what is out of balance. the energy meridians work around the core (spine) and up and down as well. i know it sounds like a bunch of crap but when i first felt an energetic shift in a client i was treating, it was not only real, but strong and profoundly moving.

craniosacral is the manipulation of the plates in the head and the sacrum to bring a person to still point and then to release the energy to increase the steady flow of cerobrospinal fluid. it is very fine, precise work and is useful for headaches, seizures, balance issues, etc..

i usually work a client from a diaphragm assessment (3 diaphragms) and a body scan that is both visual and energetic. once i think i have defined the block - i work the opposite side first to start the release and then work the blocked area second - with polarity it is all about balance - balance of energy, balance of tone, so if i work your left shoulder i have to work your right hip and then circle back to do the opposite side -

yanno - this sounds less than thrilling -

ask me questions - it might make it easier

waves to silkditty who does this type of work as well

You cannot conceive the many without the one.

Ummm did i see the word... Cupping?....

Now won't last forever, so use it wisely~c

wickedeasy replies on 6/23/2006 12:35 pm:

yes cupping, cradling is a type of hold that uses the body's own wieght to move energy and or uses chakra energy from my palms to release a blockage

when i ran the acupunctur eclinic we had cup sets that we used for particularly difficiult or impacted points - i was not an acupuncturist but i had my own set and once let a practitioner borrow it for a hosptial visit. when he asked why i had cups if i wasn't an acupunk, i just smiled.

pokes CD - wanna borrow them??

Very interesting WE. Do you use crystals? I have a friend who believes in their natural healing powers. She combines them with reflexology when she works on me for my asthma. I wish I had the time to go every day.

wickedeasy replies on 6/27/2006 4:13 pm:
i worked on a man with HIV for 5 years - always with a small altar under the table with a flawless double point windowed quarts crystal on it

i was waiting for him to arrive and he was late - about an hour later his lover (my dear dear friend) called and told me that Danny had passed at noon.

i wept and then went in to break down my table - i picked up the crystal to place it in its velvet bag and it had shattered internally

it still awes me - i gave it to his partner who keeps it in his pocket to this day

hugs BD - yanno you are such an inspiration to me

You said, " i bet you have wicked intense chi"

I just wish I knew what that was -B

wickedeasy replies on 6/28/2006 6:32 pm:
chi is the core energy of a person - the essence of their being - when you do energy work a strong chi feels like the pull of a tide - it drags your hands to the areas that need work

it's a good thing - honest
