Wat Phu Champasak

Yesterday I had another special day; the final expedition of my trip was to this famous wat. The oldest parts dates to the 6th century CE, and it was built in connection with Angkor Wat in Cambodia. It was originally a Hindu temple and there is still lots of evidence of this in the stone carvings. Later it became a Buddhist place of worship; the lingam was replaced by statues of the Buddha meditating. I think this picture gives a hint of both.

The sacred lingam and yoni in Hinduism were, of course, representations of the penis and vulva. Apparently this mountain had been considered sacred for eons before the Hindus came because it's rather rounded peak resembles a lingam. It does too resemble the glans of a nice thick cock. The Buddhists couldn't remove that.

It was an incredibly peaceful spot in the forest. This is what centuries of devotees visiting and worshipping does to a place. I stayed and meditated for ages.

This is Polly, still Wagging.

I agree it has ripple on effects. Sometimes I feel you and I do meditate at the same times. We have so much synchonicity.
