Some Shaving Tips

After a few weeks of shaving down under again, I began to remember just how painful it could get. Especially along that ridge down the center of the scrotum. Ouch it's sensitive.

But I've been experimenting with a few ideas that so far have been working wonders. Here are my tips:

1) Don't shave too often. Skin needs time to heal. I've found that once a week works well for me. Your milage may vary of course, but be careful not to over do it.

2) Use lots of shaving cream, and getting some for sensitive skin is even better. Even after you've shaved an area, recoat it with more cream. It sooths.

3) Go slowly and carefully. If youre getting ready for a date you may be tempted to rush things. Bad idea. Very sharp blades and very flexible skin (such as a scrotum) does not mix well.

4) I always shower afterward. And when I do, I always wash my body first. Then I shampoo and use the lather on the area I just shaved. Then I finish by conditioning, and again, using that lather on the area I just shaved. Shampoo and especially conditioner contain things good for the skin. They can really help keeping the irritation down.

5) Moisturize! This is the most important step and the one I just started doing. After you get out of the shower, spread some mousturizer around there. Keep that skin healthy. But just as importantly, keep it up. The skin doesn't heal in a day. So once a day make sure to remoisturize. This really helps the skin heal up in time for the next shaving. (And keeps it touchably soft. Yum yum.)

* But there's possibly a warning on the moisturizing. I just thought about this today, and have no idea if it's really something possible or not, but bacteria likes to grow in warm moist places. So I'd be careful not to overmoisturize. Let things dry out. And keep clean.

Remember, if you take care of your body, it'll take care of you too.

I have shaved the lower region since high school. So I say- Rule #1 is definately OUT for me. ALthough there was a period when I did not shave for like a month and then I had to borrow the DOG'S timmer on that one.

I used to get so mad at my husband sometimes that I would use his beard trimmer and then NEVER clean it. I would just smile to myself everytime he used it and would go to work at the Sheriff's Dept smelling like my "lower region" and not even realise it!!! So MEN- Don't make me MAD!!!

Mwa-hahahahaa *Evil Laugh*
