Here's my cat, Lucky. You may have noticed that he's not a living cat. Because of my allergies, this is the closest I've dared to getting a cat.

He's a Maneki Neko, a Japanese 'lucky cat' statue. Well, they're in pretty much every Asian culture. The concept really spread. You see them all over, especially in Chinese restaraunts, almost always waving a paw at you in greeting, bringing fortune and such.

I'd like to think that Lucky has brought me a lot of good fortune. With as much $#!7 as I've been going through lately, there's also been a lot of good trying in vain to balance it out. I got Lucky pretty much right after the divorce. I think I knew I'd need him.

yep - got one of these also - but mine has a bunch of little cats of different colors sitting at it's feet - got it in China Town in NYC - I love going there.

the cat raising the left hand brings luck to you. right hand is money!
