Profiles with poor quality or lopsided pictures

Is it just me, or are any of you reading this also frustrated with seeing profiles which have pictures that leave much to be desired in terms of their overall quality? How many times have we all seen a profile pic like the one I have posted here, where we have to strain our necks by tilting our heads to one side in order to view it upright?

Allow me to educate those of you who are unaware, but there generally two views for pictures and documents - portrait and landscape. A landscape view is what the picture attached to this post looks like. Since the picture was taken as a portrait, it would look much better if it was displayed as a portrait though, right? If you were to assume that your pic would be adjusted from landscape to portrait when you upload it to this site for your profile, you would be sadly mistaken.

Fortunately, this issue is not so difficult to remedy. Just about any type of digital photo editing software should allow the user to rotate the frame of the image whichever way necessary to make it appear upright.

Another problem with some profile pictures that I frequently see is that they appear just too small to really appreciate. When it comes to digital cameras, it's best to learn about how to set their resolution to the maximum. Resizing the pictures smaller later will not hurt their clarity or composition, but the opposite is a different story. Thumbnail-sized pictures look unfocused and blocky when they are blown up.

How about those lonely souls who take pictures of themselves in the mirror. How hard is it to find someone to take your picture? Geez...

Great points...
This is also one of the things that makes me just shake my head. There is a credibility associated with a "good photo". Yes the people using their camera phones in the mirror may have no other option, and something is often better than nothing. But I have seen plenty of photos here where nothing would have been better than what they posted. If I can't tell what specie of creature you are then it's not helping your case.
