What to Write Next?

A recent addiction. Dare I say that word? This started when I had nothing interesting to do and searched the Net for short stories and poems. I found a lot of online magazines and was happily lost reading, including archives from about 5 years back. That is what is wonderful about online mags -- you don't even have to subscribe! Then, following a link to a link to a link, I found myself at CleanSheets. Whoa!! Hot material!! Of course, by this time, I was getting better at finding these really cool online erotica mags and have included them in my list of online reading selection.

I like to scribble ideas and every now and then try to develop them into one coherent material. But I have never really thought about writing a short story for real. However, reading the blogs here, I am encouraged to try it. I would suck, I know, but then practice makes purr-fect. I started a few days ago but now I am stuck!! I cannot write the next word!! Pushing myself, setting a deadline isn't helping. Sigh. So much for that. I think I need to take a break and just breathe.

If anyone has suggestions for getting past this, do share.

Your rite take a minute you may just have a block.A good work out could open your head or some great sex to get the blood flowin.

Yes...you have a block. The only thing that helps me overcome it is to not think about it. Go to starbucks and people watch, while doing crosswords....but then I am a pathetically sexy nerd!

I have this all the time as you know and I beat myself up over it. Sometimes I'll get incomplete thoughts so I'll type those into Ms Word as incomplete sentences and if I do this long enough it occassionally, not always, kickstarts my brain into action. This is often how my posts' start, I'll have a subject I want to talk about, maybe I thought about it at work or while I was in bed the night before but I can't remember all my thoughts now I have access to the computer so I'll type randomly as the thoughts begin to flow out my brain. Eventually I can build up a momentum and it all flows naturally and neatly until I can't stop.
Other times I can't get any sort of thought out at all, those are the times where I just go do something else. When it is as bad as this, time overcomes this mental blockage. Don't rush things, says he who rushs everything.

Trish, I think you'll come up with something. Try freewriting. Just write even if it doesn't make sense, it will later.

Thanks, everyone.

escape300: The good workout was enough.

frogger: I did go to starbucks and people-watched. Hmm... lots of eye candy!! Totally defeated the purpose!

man77: Don't rush. Got it!

gnr8nrg: Now freewriting... I have lots of experience with. Until now they still don't make sense. Some, anyway.

I wish I did have an answer.

I've been trying to write erotica for long enough to have developed a good head of frustration and, despite all the tips I've got, I'm still stumped.

Guess I may have to admit defeat on this one myself but I hope you succeed where I've failed

Hmm... I highly doubt that.

But I hope you post your work and give all of Blogland a chance to devour every word you wrote.
