What a Day This Has Been, What A Rare Mood I'm In...

Oh man… Oh Man… OH MAN…

I just had a moment. Wanna know what that moment was?

I don’t care what religion you are. I don’t care what your background is. I don’t care what you believe. I don’t care where you are from and I don’t care who your momma was.

There is amazing power in the recognition of personal redemption.

Did you hear what I just said? Did you? Did you?

There is amazing power in the recognition of personal redemption.

Something within us seeks it from the moment we are born. Not validation from others but an acceptance of ourselves that empowers and reaches to the very core of the human experience.

Oh man… Oh Man… OH MAN…

We seek it, need it, desire it, hope for it, want it, feel for it, long and yearn for it when all the while it is at our fingertips and all we have to do is accept it. Did you hear me? All we must do is accept it.

That shame, that guilt, that self loathing, that self condemnation, that personal torture chamber of despair and hopelessness you walk around in is a false burden and an insecurity that is self imposed and crushing in its power. However, redemption says this to us. Grace is the grace to accept grace. Redemption is the ability to accept and live our lives redeemed. It is a choice and a desire that we must gather from the roots of the fiber of our being and empowers us and flows from us in our actions and choices.

Oh man… Oh Man… OH MAN…

Do you see what a gift you have been given? Do you see what is there before your very eyes awaiting you to step forward, pick it up and take it on? Regardless of where you have been and where you are going, you have the ability to start life over, to accept grace from yourself and walk in redemption.

What are you saying you may be asking!

I am saying that the cookie you stole from the cookie jar when you were 5 years old holds no intrinsic value or purpose today. It doesn’t matter. It is the past. It is back there. It is done, over with, gone forever from where you are today. IT DOES NOT MATTER! Yesterday? It is done, over with, gone forever from where you are today! Do you give today a lack of hope because of the chains of your past? Do you refuse to dream for the future because you empower where you were in the past? IT DOES NOT MATTER!

Redemption and victory start in your life right now. This minute. This second and the very next choice you make empowers whether you live redeemed or in personal defeat. Not tomorrow. It is not a hope. It is not a self fulfilling dream that some get and some never do. It is a reality if only you will accept it. It is yours for the taking. It is your mantle that you can wear today.

It is your choice.

Live life shackled within a self imposed prison or live life fully and in freeing redemption.

I had been restless the last couple weeks...the eternal poetic "inner demon" battle. My typically passionate nature was dulled and there is such a thing as "too introspective."

This weekend, something clicked. Whatever motivation had been gone shone bright quite suddenly. Once I saw it, I snapped it right up. It took a simple, short sentence from someone I care about and knows me very well....

"Who are you today?"

"Live life shackled within a self imposed prison or live life fully and in freeing redemption."

It all set in like the last piece of that jigsaw puzzle settling into place. I'm me, I'm ok, and it's all good. I can't control my environment, but I can control my own walk toward destiny.

I believe each of us have our own obstacles in life to tackle as they may come before us. I also believe that you become the person you are from the road(s) you've been down and the choice(s) you made to get you to this point. That does not necessarily mean that you have to "forget" a person, a moment, a day, a year, price-less times you may never find again in any such person. Accepting one's-self is merely that and can be done relentlessly and without pain on others. It's a reality check you've come to battle with, not all around you. I'm sorry, but I disagree with forgetting because good people caring about you unconditionally are price-less. You'll find that out when you've made the choice to "forget"...and your left alone. Just a thought.

Accepting one's-self is merely that and can be done relentlessly and without pain on others. It's not a question of anyone accepting you, you have to accept, love and honor you before they can. It's a reality check you've come to battle with, not for all around you. I'm sorry, but I disagree with the "forgetting" because good people caring about you unconditionally are price-less. Waytogo, Trav!

Once we embrace personal redemption, we are free to purge the "shoulds" and "shouldn'ts" from our lives. Freed of the extraneous clatter, what is left, with clarity, is our purpose here on this planet.

Three years ago, D and I stumbled on this very realization. In the blink of an eye, with no outward visible change, our lives transformed from "not quite enough" to extreme abundance.

Great post, compadre, whether you can bench your own bodyweight or not!
