meeting a lady

I had never met anyone from AdultFriendFinder until last Tuesday. Well, it couldn't have been with a more fitting person. My neighbor from up north, the lovely Papyrina.

I started reading her blog before I knew anything about her. I had no idea she was in Thessaloniki, some 300 miles to the north of me. I admired her for being so consistent, so funny, a breath of fresh air day in day out.

When I started my own blog I sent her a note seeking her advice, her comments... She responded of course, in her typical humorous manner, half sarcastic, half self evasive. I still treasure that comment...

Around early October I read a rare autobiographical post of hers. It touched me and I sent her another note. We soon became friends. I still remember the way we first IMed. So cinematric... Imade a very rare appearance in the Greek chat room, hoping she was there. She was...

"Hi Papy, I am Toothysmile", I think those were my words... She quickly whisked me away, invited me to join a group, 'Bloggers of this friendly site', then added me to her IM list, all within a few minutes... Chatting with her was like stepping into her blog, watching her personality materialize through her words. I have always enjoyed it. I still do...

We could relate to each other through shared experiences... we lived in the same country, we had both lived elsewhere too... And we always joked about being so far away from all our blog friends... and the difficulties that entailed... [a deep deep sigh here...]

"We are in blogland's Siberia", is how we often chuckled about it...

I was due for a business trip to her city. I couldn't let that opportunity pass by. I knew I 'd have only an hour at the most, but it was better than nothing. I told her about it, asked her to meet for tea. She declined. Told me she preferred coffee.

I remember being very much at ease before meeting her. I felt like I was about to meet a friend I 've known for a long time, not someone I 'd never seen before. . She was the 3-D version of her posts, even her laughter seemed familiar. Tall, elegant, charming, funny, sexy... She was exactly how I thought she would be. A lady.

We sat at the loft of a small cafe in Thessaloniki. I ended up drinking coffee, as I was sleepless and needed the jolt, a small detail she was polite not to comment on...

Time flew by before we knew it. We talked and talked... But soon I had to go. We stepped outside, hugged... Kissed the greek way, on the cheek. We knew we 'd meet again. Soon.

As I disappeared through the heavy pedestrian traffic, her image still on my mind, I thought of the last line from 'Casablanca'...

"This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship..."

Very cool. This is the stuff we all like to hear.

There is a Lady I hope to meet in the coming months. No business trip but I'll find a reason and more than an hour.

oh, it was...
thank you nikki...
you know this in a way is a bittersweet post...
on one hand I 'm so happy I met Papy...
but then I 'm reminded of how many people I haven't met, even though I 'd love to...

...and needless to say you 're among them... ...
do you offer coffee along with your view from the top?... tea?... ...

No, it doesn't...
In fact in some cases the distance increases the desire...
As I 've often told a friend, it comes down to the same question...
"What do you want? What do I want?"...
If our answers match, no ocean can come between us...
Thank you for your comment...

don't be jealous now... ...

Grab a tear from each of us.

True literary form takes the reader beyond the description and places each in the script sculptured to fit each idea of the events that transpired. For me, I were but a shadow of light that followed close by as you transitioned from stranger to friend to known acquaintance. Seeing you traverse the streets with wonder and contentment.

my original profile pic was my smile... but no one seemed to notice me very much... and I was too shy to display my eyes, as they do tell a lot about me... but I do display my smile on post pictures...
