Blogville Defined

Let me first say that I don't post very often...mainly because I don't have the time, nor the inspiration. Therefore, I'm not in the upper levels of popularity with comments, views, etc. And that's fine with me.

However, there is a group of people that blog on this site that are very interested in being popular in the blog ratings. And most of them refer to it as Blogville, and consider themselves part of an exclusive gated internet community. And it's asinine.

It's tragic to me, to find people who are purportedly adults, reduced to whining and bitching and me-me-me-me attention-whoring on a website. It's like junior high school, with the 'popular' kids trying to ostracize the nerdy kids, and all the while trying to out-do their clique-mates on who can get noticed more often. You know who you are: the name-droppers, the 10 posts-per-day, the drama queens [male and female], etc. etc.

And then you have the absolutely wretched 'poetry'. I'm not naming names; a small portion of it is decent, but the rest looks like it was copied from a 13 yr old girl's dream journal.

I say all this because a dear friend of mine who loves to post on the site has had problems with ingrates on this site, and is considering stopping what they like to do because of the jerks in 'Blogville'. I don't know all the details, and I don't want to. All I know is that those who take this site and their precious blogs so seriously that they must tear others down and insult, attack, etc. are absolute small-minded morons. You must grow up.

Again, those of you who are out there that don't fit this profile, are exempt from this rant. And if you are offended by my post, then YOU ARE PROBABLY THE PROBLEM. If someone takes the time to post, and you don't like it, or think they are doing something wrong by replying to all those who comment on their post, you need to go back to your hole. If I go to a blog based on the title or the author, and I don't like it, I just leave. I did one time challenge some jackass who made some really uneducated political statements, but that's the only time I've done that. I typically give props when it's good, my 2 cents if asked for, and support to my pals. If I hate it or just am not interested, then I leave. Many of you would do well to follow that example.

And, those of you who think I'm talking to you, and think that I insulted you, feel free to post. Those of you who think that I'm either right or close to it, or at least don't want to see any more of what I'm complaining about, feel free to post to those who you think fit the bill, and let's try to make the blogs more fun and less juvenile pools of drama.

I don't think that they're total elitists, but I do understand where you're coming from. I started my blog two months ago and sometimes it seems like I'm still talking to myself. On the other hand, I have several people that stop by often and enjoy what I write, so I guess you could say that I'm making friends. But I have yet to see anyone call another outright on a blog. Then again, I do stay away from the political debates. I'm here for something entirely different. Increase sex, not votes.

As for the poems, I can agree. But, if that's what I see written, I just leave. No sense in offending another on here. But I can't tell them to stop. Free country this Blogville, so we're all entitled to type whatever. I'm all for the "type and let type" kind of society on here. But then again, that's just my 2 cents.

you may not be "in the upper levels of popularity with comments, views, etc..." but you have the BEST named blog in this joint.

At the risk of sounding like a bunny boiling fatal attraction psychotic...I totally adore you for commenting on the bad poetry seen (and raved about) here. Though blogs are journals, it still makes my teeth hurt (from the grinding) when I see some of the Hallmark rejects presented as great poetic art. Somewhere, real poets are spinning in their graves.

sj365, you are awesome! Glad we agree

Stan...I've loved some of the best and didn't like some of the classics...but as I said, I don't blast anyone for writing crap; I just move along.

finelady, thanks for agreeing...and it's always good to see you

sj365, why would your comments make you a bunny boiler????????? They are quite valid and very sane.

Teddy boy, you don't post very often but when you do your posts are worth reading... I must confess I don't read many of the blogs here, I just don't have the time to spend sifting through pages and pages of someone else's thoughts unless it's someone I "know".
