Pre-Semester Blues

Well, not blues, really. But I have been thinking about what I have finished and have left incomplete before the semester begins.

I think this happens with everyone who teaches -- and has their summers off. One waits until the most beautiful time of the year to process any real thoughts or any emotions that have developed throughout the academic year.

I've lost weight. I've gotten laid.

I haven't fallen in love. I really haven't become closer to anyone.

Last night a guy was sucking me off, and he had a great mouth. Some people know how to use their mouths, others watch too much porn and porn has never lead to a good blowjob. And he got off, and I just told him to stop sucking me. I was feeling far to disconnected and contemplative.

Sometimes the mind can override the body. I was too busy thinking about the future to be in the present. Though all too soon, I won't even have a present. I'll just be trodding along for another nine months waiting for the future. And then when it comes, I won't know what to do with it.

For all of those who have been reading my blog, feel free to send me a message. Especially those of you in Iowa, and especially women.
