As the semester approaches, I find myself scrambling to finish things and start things I'd promised to do long ago.

Much of it is done: I have a wonderful new bed and exercising through the summer has paid off. I'm tinkering with the camera, though I'm still in the "new owner" phase where I don't want to take it anywhere for fear it will scratch.

But it is also the time of year when I begin to forget things too. I've misplaced books I need. I can't find the article I was writing and wanted to get back to.

Moral: things usually show up in time. I'm scrambling, though I know the deadlines are far off. I'm preparing in advance.

Romantically or sexually, that does not always work. Sometimes you have to be totally unprepared to see what you're supposed to.

But the teacher in me kicks into overdrive and I've found one of the books I was looking for. How it got there I don't know. And I'm not going to say what was obscuring it from view.
