Martin Luther King Day

I remember in 8th grade civics learning a part of Kings I had a dream speech and to this day I still remember that. There are so many important people that made a huge impact throughout our history but yet today in our society it seems to make no difference. The words they spoke of had meaning then. Do many of us really think of what any of those important words mean today. Think about part of Kings speech where it talks about wanting his children to grow up in a world where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. Look at how much we teach the younger generation. But then we wonder what is wrong with some of the children today. We are role models for our young people. Care for everyone as though you would want to be cared about. Does that mean meet everyone you chat with online, no. But sometimes just there are reasons as to what people do have patience.

King was a truly great inspiration. Many today do not appreciate the struggles of the past, but maybe that is good as a sign how far we have come. Look at all the black athletes and entertainers who are heroes to many of all races.

i have had friends of all races and have lived in bigger cities... i remember one time i was in milwaukee and a black man asked me at a gas station to help him so i did.... not a big deal.. the girlfiend i had at the time totally freaked when i got back in the truck and was nervous.. both of us were from small towns me in the north and her from central.. for part of the ride back i had to explain to her that there was no difference in people by the color of thier skin just their actions.. besides i felt safe that i wasnt going to get mugged.. the car he wanted help with was a brand new cadilac.. he hadmore money than i (insert laught here).. i like to say that there are wiggers as well.....i learned allot in the bigger cities and the old addage is true "you cant judge a book by its cover"
