Alone Again, Naturally

I haven't written for a while, but decided I needed to vent today.
My youngest niece will be turning two very soon and my sister is giving her a party for all the immediate family. I spoke to my sister and she said that my "friend" and her daughter could attend if they wish. My "friend" has already met my family, so she wouldn't be among total strangers. My "friend" said that she would have to see what her daughter is doing that day and then decide.
My current feeling if that she decides against attending this party, I may terminate the relationship.

okay, I'll bite here.. why terminate the relationship based on a birthday party?? I'm not sure I understand..... or, is this one of those "straw that broke the camels' back" sort of things? One in a long list? I'm going to also venture a guess that the daughter of your "friend" is about 2 or so?? And, to play devil's advocate here.... granted, she may have MET your family.... 1) it doesn't mean they like each other or 2) they are comfy around each other. I would be one to pass on the family gathering for feeling out of place (not "officially" family, plus you are only introducing her as a "friend"....not girlfriend. I see separatism there)........ just a thought.......... good luck, though!..............E.
