Shake it Off

There is nothing like a very good challenging project to make me feel efficient and to shake off the doldrums of last week. To say to myself, “I can’t believe you let yourself sink that level of wimpering, wallowing, self-pity. Snap out of it! Get a grip! Toughen up buttercup!”

Two cups of coffee, an early start, and a budget can just be such a healthy thing for the emotions. No confusion of emotions, just number crunching…I only have to be subjective on certain issues within my control and there isn’t much ambiguity about that, and I don’t have to patiently wait on this. It’s on my time.

This is the part about writing that I love. Looking back and seeing a pattern, a trend of thought that clearly shows what I’ve been thinking about. Sometimes, that’s light and pretty, whimsical and funny, sometimes it’s just downright whiney and personally horrifying. But at least I see it, confront or decide to ignore it, but I can’t go on saying that I have no idea why I feel the way I do. It’s right out there. Plain as the nose on my face, black and white and all those mixed up metaphors that are probably driving someone nuts right now. (But, it’s not your self-revelation, so get over yourself and write your own blog!)

In any case, it feels so very good to get a handle on it.

But no…I really don’t want to do your budget for you. You probably wouldn’t like it anyway, as I like to do creative accounting. Throw numbers out there, and gamble that I can make it. I know…scary. I’m a good gambler though.

Smirking…anyone want to play a game of poker?

So what’s the pattern? Ha! Like I’m gonna tell you! I’ve had enough soul-baring to suit me for awhile. Got my turtle shell on and dang, if it don’t feel nice and comfy. I think I’ll just paddle on out into the water of life again.

I'll play but what are the stakes?

Yes, Gem...recently a good friend gave me the advice of "take a deep breath, and smile."

Why do I hear Christopher Cross' song "Sailing"?

Ravyn...the stakes are always for m&m's and everyone knows what the green ones do.
