I went to a funeral today. It was for a member of my church. Her name was Toni. She died of cancer. When she joined the church years ago, the first impression was that she was naturally friendly. She would always greet you with a genuine smile. She would ask you how you were with a genuine interest, as though it would effect her life on how you were doing. She was kind and gentle. Gentle is the key word. In her eulogy her niece talked of her memories of Toni and she also described her as a "gentle soul." Our church has a balcony that wraps around 3 sides of the church and though the servie was well attended with family and friends the upstairs was empty. Or was it truly empty? As I looked up into the balcony I had a sense it was crowded and full with people I did not recognize. They were solemn but smiling with a portrayal of peacefulness. I was filled with the impression they were friends of Toni who have previously passed away intermixed with whom seem to be angels.
