I'm listening to some old country, and thinking of the days growing up in my home town. We took long vacations on the road all over the country and my Mom and Dad would play this music. I don't remember complaining, but I probably did. I'm talking really old stuff, like Conway Twitty, George Jones, Tanya Tucker, George Strait etc, etc, etc. It's funny what a few years will do on perspective.
We all know how common divorce is now a days, but my Mom and Dad used to listen to this music and not only did we have a great childhood, but they were married till the day they died. That just doesn't happen that much anymore. I wish they knew how much that means to me today. I saw them go through some seriously tough times. Way tougher than most will even bother to approach nowadays. I'm not saying they didn't, but as far as I know, they never spent a night apart out of anger.
I know my parents could have said "Fuck It". I thought they would for sure, but they let many things be "by gones", I guess.
Thanks Bill and Elaine.
