It's just a wink!

Alright, I totally get the idea of having a way to show interest when you are browsing profiles... A way that’s non-intrusive and that maintains your anonymity. It's just funny to me how it gets interpreted.

First the ladies. I'm clear that if I was walking down the street and I winked at you, that would NOT be a persuasive approach to start a relationship. So my question is, what do we guys do? Honestly, I think you want to be approached only by those guys that you find interesting, which of course we have no way of knowing ahead of time. I approach you, and you aren’t interested, you begrudge me for bothering you or having the nerve…. So I back off, and try to get your attention in an non-intrusive way, and you ignore it because I’m not aggressive enough. Sounds like a double standard. So ladies, I wink to show you I’m interested or to compliment what I saw in your profile. What else should I do?

And now, the guys. Me being a guy myself, when i send a wink to a guy, I get some responses as if I just walked up and pinched his ass!! It's a gesture communicating interest, not lust... not envy… not gay….not whatever you are afraid of the might happen to you if you get a wink from another guy. You all have male friends and you all meet new male friends in the course of your life, and there’s nothing gay or sexual about meeting guys. But I think you guys have the same reaction as the women, you don’t want to be bothered by anyone that you wouldn’t be interested in, and you guys are mostly only interested in getting laid. Again, if I want to meet guy friends, what else should I do?

So the moral of the story? A wink is just a wink! It’s a positive non-intrusive communication of interest. If you are making it out to be more or less than that, my question is WHY?

I agree. When I send a wink. It is an acknowledgment that one looks good, or attractive. The look or picture composition was appreciated.
