Not a happy ending here warning!

Okay it's only another cat post! But this is the story of one the dearest and most loving cats I've ever had the pleasure to know!
Her name was Stormy,Came with that one from the shelter,She was a British Blue and Cream. That's what they told me,Papered and with a fullblooded back ground. That didn't matter to me,Something in her eyes touched me,so I took her home! There's a reason I don't work the shelter,I want to take all of them home! But she was a special one right from the start, and her number was up that day,I couldn't help put her down! She got along so well with my others right from the start.
One by one Lost everyone but her to FID's,She mothered everyone of her little friends till the day they died! And helped comfort me through it all
One day she got out,and I lost her for two weeks,I gave her up for dead! Then I saw her prints in the snow, she was so terrified it took her all that time to find her way back! She weighed less than two pounds! She slowly gained that back to be fat and sassy again! She became
so much more devoted after that,And we grew so close over the years!
But then I got married and she hated My cat for that devotion it showed me,And Stormy got out one night,I found what was left of her in the street
She was only Nineteen,I had her thirteen years of those years! I lost her six years ago today~

    Quoting rm_silkditty:
I lost a cat in February of 2005 - she was 18 years old. I knew it was the end and decided not to take her in for euthanasia. I kept her with me and she let me know at 4:00 in the morning that it was time. She started yowling. I got up and put my hands on her to steady her, to give her energy and love, and told her "It's okay, you can go now." Within seconds, she gave her last breath and was gone.

I'm starting to cry again just thinking about it.

Your cat had a good nineteen years. It was time for her to to go.

It doesn't make it any easier on us, though, does it?
Oh Silky - I feel for you. I have tears here trying to type this. I hope that I'm one half of a couple when mine decide it's time. I don't think I can face such devastating losses on my own.

Oh Spunky - I know how hard that is.

I only had little Smudge for 18 months and even people that didn't like cats loved her. She was so pretty - had this wonderful squirrel like tail that was so fluffy it used to part if she was down wind ! I had such plans for us.

I live in an apartment and I was going to get a house where she could run up and down the stairs to her little hearts content, and a garden for her to play in - until one night, she didn't come home. I called and called her, and usually when she heard my voice, she would come right away. This night, I knew in my heart, was different from the rest.

I was in a panic. I started to look outside the apartment and not far from the front door, I found my baby under a car. She had obviously been struck a glancing blow from a car and, I like to think, she had been trying to get home, which was why she was so near. We were only a little family for 18 months and that was 9 years ago now - but I still miss her terribly.

I know I have to other wonderful companions, but they just aren't Smudge.

I used to be a veterinary technician, but I had to get out of it because I couldn't deal with euthanasia anymore, or coming into the clinic in the morning, and finding an animal I had been trying to get well, had died overnight.

6 years ago, I also had to put my favorite dog to sleep. Her name was Gypsy, and she was a miniature pinscher. I had that dog for 9 years, but she got real sick, and I didn't have the money to keep hospitalizing her. I still miss her!! I had a hard time not calling my next dog by her name.

Pickles~Thanx for sharin' that and I know what ya mean,I quit the volunteer work at the shelter for the same reason! And how Ironic your dog was named Gypsy,Being as I am part~ But I hear ya and share your pain~

19 years is a good innings......7 cat years for every human year which made her 133 when she passed away. It's never nice to lose them though.

Don't ever give up searching for the fun in life.

I always say that I've never lived anywhere that allowed me to have pets, so I had kids.

I grew up with tons, though.

I had a cat killed by the motor of a car. Sad, tragic and messy.

He was a great cat. Mean as hell.

I have a great number of current pets and I have had many lost pets over the years. You always remember them. My husband is very attached to my poodle "Cuddles". He was 3 days old when his mom died and I took him in and raised him. He is 6 now and hubby says if anything happens to him there won't be anymore pets. My house is like a mini

Sorry to hear that Spunky! I had a pet cocktail.. I taught him how to whistle and talk a few words.. One morning before I went to work I found him dead at the bottom of his cage.. My Kids and I had a funeral for him.. We had him for 6 years.. Sometimes I still can hear him whistle.. Now where I am I can't have pets.. They will always be in our hearts..

Pets are a lot like children; I suppose that's why until a few years ago I always had a dog around, being unfortunate to have my own kids. I had a golden retriever... got him as a pup, 8 weeks old. Raised him up like he was my son, and when he died suddenly 4 years later it felt like my whole world crashed.

Thanx ZZ~ I know exactly what ya mean,Felt that with all my cats and all my dogs that I lost! And when You're alone that hits ya hard! I can feel for ya there~ Thanx for sharin' that~

My poodle was 13 years old when I found her dead. My other dogs had killed her. The sight of seeing her lying on the ground will never be erased from my brain, and there is always a place in my hurt reserved especially for her.
