it's getting to the point...

I just printed up my tickets to the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young concert tomorrow night in West Palm Beach. It promises to be a hell of a show. They are calling it the "Freedom of Speech '06" tour. A group of us are going; we have festival seating and an attitude.

"We're out to touch people and present them with an idea that's 230 years old- that you have the right to speak your mind, to dissent, to address your government. It's patriotic to speak out- not unpatriotic, as they would have you believe."
Graham Nash

"There's a conscience in the country, and I don't think it's being spoken. Everyone deserves a chance to be heard. We don't have to believe what our president believes to be patriotic."
Neil Young

"Bush and his gang were brilliant at scaring everyone to death with the war on terrorism, to the point all everyone wants is a blanket and a warm cup of milk."
Graham Nash

"Everyone's pretty much had it- Iraq, Katrina, the economy, the price of oil, the stem-cell veto- and we as a nation keep rolling over and taking it. It's time to rise up as one."
Steven Stills

"This tour isn't about playing it safe. It's about involving people in the process of rediscovering their power, to awaken people that they have the ability to put pressure on their elected officials to start impeachment proceedings. They have to realize it could happen."
Graham Nash

They will play three dozen songs with no opening act.

Here is one of them:

The Restless Consumer
from Living With War
by Neil Young

The people have heard the news
The people have spoken
You may not like what they said
But they weren't jokin'

Way out in the desert sands
Lies a desperate lover
They call her the "Queen of Oil"
So much to discover...

Don't need no ad machine
Tellin' me what I need
Don't need no Madison Avenue War
Don't need no more boxes I can't see
Covered in flags but I can't see them on TV
Don't need no more lies
Don't need no more lies
Don't need no more lies
Don't need no more lies

The restless consumer flies
Around the world each day
With such an appetite for taste and grace

People from around the world
Need someone to listen
We're starving and dying from our disease
We need your medicine

How do you pay for war
And leave us dyin'?
When you could do so much more
You're not even tryin'

Don't need no TV ad
Tellin' me how sick I am
Don't want to leave
Don't want to know how people are like me
Don't need no dizziness
Don't need no nausea
Don't need no side effects like diarrhea or sexual death
Don't need no more lies
Don't need no more lies
Don't need no more lies
Don't need no more lies

The restless consumer lies
Asleep in her hotel
With such an appetite
For anything that sells

A hundred voices from a hundred lands
Need someone to listen
People are starving here and there
They don't see the world the way you do
There's no mission accomplished here
Just death to thousands
A hundred voices from a hundred lands
Cry out in unison

Don't need no terror squad
Don't want no damn Jihad
Blowin' themselves away in my hood
But we don't talk to them
And we don't learn from them
Hate don't negotiate with Good
Don't need it
Don't need no more lies
Don't need no more lies
Don't need no more lies
Don't need no more lies

The restless consumer flies
Around the world each day
With such an appetite for efficiency
And pace

Don't need no more lies

I promise a review of the show by the end of the week.

Wow! and all we get here are the Stones! I saw them in 1984. I would rather see C,S,N &Y!

My best friend will be attending the same concert when they swing by her area on the current tour. And btw - I saw CSN (no Y) about three years ago and they were every bit as wonderful as they were 'back in the day.' Bald, paunchy and grey, but still with voices from the heavens.

OK, just so you know...
Your blogs are nudging me off my comfortable ass, in order to take more of a public stand re: the way things are politically right now.

Yeah, I'm still [blog 1hotwahine]

... where I'm no fun anymore.

Man, I've always loved that song. Looking forward to the review.

"Our current administration seems to have lost its way and its moral compass. Dishonesty has become a national policy. We have been asked to debase our Constitution for political purposes, to enshrine bigotry and to take away fundamental rights from Americans. We have abandoned scientific and medical research, bowing to narrow religious beliefs. We have handed over even more of our national wealth to the rich and taken it from the poor and the workingman. We have gone to war for reasons that have been proved wrong, and we have sanctioned torture as acceptable policy."
