Book you should read

Things They Carried by Tim O'Brian
Hammer's Slammers (out of print) by David Drake
Then Hammer's Slammers series by David Drake

Correct me if I'm wrong..I know you will...

The Butchers Bill
The Sharp End of the Stick
and two others that I can't recall

These are books are compolations of short stories...about war..and life. They capture the feeling of war, without the physical context...Its the mental part that is interesting.

Everyone needs to read "Blackhawk Down" the book is better then the movie...and I love the movie..a true rendition of the book would need a mini-serice.

A love story wraped in a war story..Enemy At The Gates is one of the few russian versions of the war on film..Iron Cross is another good movie and book.

I watched Enemy At the Gates the first few times as a war movie...then as a love movie from the Soviet point of view...but in the end...I think it is a love story from the German point of view as well...he takes the Soviets adopets son, in place of his own..and commits suicide by combat...much like J.E.B. Stewert on the yellow bridge.
