Love smells like...

She says ‒ Today, I can hold happiness and love. I can actually touch it. I can see it. I can even smell it! The smell is distinctive, unforgettable, one of a kind. It’s puppy breath! And I can think of no words to describe this welcome addition to our family.

He says ‒ I think this means I’m sleeping on the porch.

We played phone tag on the drive home. (Those free minutes on the weekends are finally getting some use.) Every ninety seconds she would ring again, as if looking in her rearview mirror wasn’t fulfilling enough. “What are we gonna name him?” seemed to be a recurring theme, second only to the thankyou’s.

But I didn’t get the dog for her, exactly. I got it for them, meaning her and her son. It just doesn’t seem right that a boy should be in a house with his mother and a cat. It’s not natural, you know? It just conjures up images of Norman Bates in his youth. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. *Having a brief Seinfeld flashback.*

So the phone kept ringing and the possible names were being tossed about. Feeling slighted at not winning the pizza debate last night, I was leaning towards names like Chuck E Cheese or Pupperoni. But in tribute to our meeting online, and in the spirit of enduring friendships, she chose to name him after our second favorite bard.

Henceforth, the furball shall be known as “Sir Billiam Shakesbeare”. You didn’t expect her to name it Joe, did ya?

There really is something priceless about puppy breath. And her smile is pretty precious too.

Joe.. hmmm... That would be a weird name for a dog.

I am not dead yet

Pupperoni's good...creative...has a nice ring to it...but it also sounds like something you buy in a can, lol!

I wouldn't have given Joe such a hard knock...you could always put something in front of it, Crazy Joe, Sloppy Joe, Mo Joe, lol!

But, I do have a special fondness for the incredibly unique and clever...

Yes Bard, it just didn't seem appropriate. Besides, then I would've had to bleach his hair. And I think you know my feelings on hair coloring products right now.

Oh Pink, we like the way your mind works! Sloppy Joe would be classic. Now you've got us laughing and throwing out other ideas. Cuppa Joe, Gee I. Joe, Joe Hovis Witless, Joe Mamma, Joe Kool Aid, Joe Makin Bobsled. Okay, now it's getting silly.
