Week in Perspective

I kinda left blogland last week, as I didn't find anything worthy of your attention; wasn't really feeling very inspired, and one thing I've learnt, if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything.

"The past is a reference, not a residency"

Inspirational words from somewhere I read. My interpretation is that your past should be a launch pad to better things to come, that only the 'now' moment can take you to.

"Be the Change you want to Create" - Gandhi

Make your own interpretation but then again, Gandhi has proven this statement by acting on it first, so can't really be wrong.

"It's never too late to be the person you could have become"

Let's all take the 'ifs' out of our lives....this way perhaps we can all be happier people? Speaking of which, we Singaporeans are actually #131 on the Happy Quotient list? What's that about? So maybe WHEN we take the 'ifs' out, we'll become a happier bunch? And of course, inspite of our low ranking in happiness, we still need to provide 4 million smiles to IMFers? sounds kinda forced to me. Sorry, taking a piss out of the whole un-happy episode of our nation state's birthday. So.....Happy Birthday Singapore?

2 positive thots here:
1. If there's an Unhappy Quotient list, we'd have scored highly?
2. Since we're at the pits, the only way to go is up? Yeaaaa.....we can only hope that if this is the case, we'll be happier and happier over time....

Sorry, another piss shot here....

"Women speak a language that their minds don't say" (my line)

Women out there, please give us guys a break, will'ya? Imagine if the reverse is true....nah, ain't gonna happen....men are simply not so evolved.

Good weekend, folks.

Hi, this is my first time here and I cannot resist the wisdom of taht first phrase " Past is a ...".
So true, indeed. Although we humans sometimes forget we've got a present a future as well...

Hi Lilith

I don't think we ever forget that there's a present, it's just that we regress by thinking that the past IS the present, making life a constant rewind, and when you rewind a record too many times, it gets busted up at some point.

Thanks for coming to my blog.....and glad you enjoyed reading my thots....actually, you've just inspired me to write another piece....mucho gracias

You sounded frustrated. Happy or not, it's all in our mind. I've touched on this subject now and then. Anyway, my guess for Singaporeans being ranked low in the Happy Quotient list is probably due to our "kiasi" (scared to die) & "kiasu" (scared to lose) attitudes. If we could let go of such and seek contentment in what we possess, probably we'll be happier. But then again, Comfort is the Enemy to Achievement. Well....

Hope you have a relaxing weekend that brightens your week to come.

Make it your challenge.... turn me ON!!

huh? No lah, i was not feeling frustrated....more like reflective. Yeah, I read your blog too on contentment. Was just taking a piss shot at how this 'Happy Quotient" topic has consumed Singapore.

If we can simply read the survey and start laughing, instead of lamenting, we'll already become happier people.

Back to my blog, take the 'ifs' out.....go live a life. Tks dear, you've always been very insightful and perceptive. Did think about everything you wrote (including the xxx stories....aiyo, didn't think you so 'chio' one....) and have come (oops, pun not intended) away feeling learned.
