I gotta go

I run a reading service for the blind. We do about 8 hours a day of local programming, the rest of the time we rely on a network from New York City. During the holidays of course they end up doing different programming and I am having what radio people call a drive way moment. Where you are stuck in your car can't get out because you have to ... have to listen to the rest of the report.

Although I'm not in the car... I've had to go to the bathroom for over a half hour, and I can't leave the radio, and the radio can't come with me to the bathroom... I hope I can hold on to it for another 5 minutes...

Ah but what is the story that I'm listening to that has me so intrenched? John Ono Lennon... home clips, accoustic versions of some of his songs, interviews ... the question of "where were you when you heard he had been shot." This is an amazing show! But my gosh I have to pee!

I used to do that when I worked night shift. I would drive home from work in the early hours of the morning listening to the radio.

Now, here in NZ our coverage of american sports is extremely limited, but one sports radio station tunes into to the Fox Sports Network over the 'net after midnight until 7am.

I would park in the driveway and listen to sports updates until 7am then head inside at about the same time as my wife (now ex) and step kids were waking up.

But sometimes, after a long night, I would fall asleep in the car, motor running and be woken around 8am when my step daughter went to catch the bus to school. Those were the days.
