The time of subtle moves,
and changes in our lives.
When everything is felt...
where everything is known.

feelings that change us.
Thoughts and memories
that stay with us forever.

You may or may not
know when there
was an impact.
Like the moment we first gazed
across the room... and found each other...
and knew.
The moment our eyes
held each others...
and wouldn't let go.

the moment
I crossed the room
and you smiled and said
"Yes, let's dance."
(My heart leaped
to my throat.)

The first smile...
the first scent of the perfume
you were wearing.
The way the dress you wore
made me want you just that much more.
The sparkle in your eyes...
the way you turned your head
just so...
so that i had your complete attention.
The way you moved the strand of hair
away from your face... and smiled...
just like you did a moment ago.
(another impact.)
The first time
my lips tasted yours.

the evening spent together
sharing our dreams,
our desires...
our expectations...
our hopes...
... and finding...
they were the same.

The time in our lives
when everything changes.
The time in "my" life
when "you "entered it...
and "we" never felt alone....

I so enjoy your poetry--you truly have a gift! If I didn't know better, I would think you were following me around, documenting my life. In reality, I hope it is YOUR life you are documenting. You deserve to be experiencing the things you write about, that move me so deeply. Thank you for your willingness to share your gift with us here in Blog-land.

Thank you so much for this very kind compliment. That touched my heart.

Most times, the poems come from my life. Some of them are born from a simple phrase either I used in a conversation, or a single word, like this one. I usually don't know where the poem is going to go, or how it's going to grow as I write. I just let the words start flowing. Thank goodness they still do. I really enjoy writing them.
"Impact" started from just that word. I thought it was going in one direction, when at the end, it went in a totally different route.

If they seem to be close to the realities in your life, then I know they are close to where I want them to be. I want the reader to take them as their own words. I want the reader to say, "this is me in the poem." (And no, I'm not following you around... though you are such a dynamic lady, that alone, would be an interesting thing to do!)

Are all the things I write about from my own life? I would love to say yes; but, in reality, I can't. Some are thoughts I really want to get across... to someone... or about something. "Colors" is a true example of a thought I've wanted to get across for a long time. (Years actually.) I'm not sure if it's a political or moral statement on our lives. I do know that it wanted to come out... and for me... needed to come out.

Long winded tonight! Again, thank you for your thoughts, hug, me
