Ball and chain....

Most people think of the "hardships" and limitations that a marriage brings between two people, when someone mentions the ol' ball and chain. Others bring images of prisoners....but, let's not think about that!!! lol...

Sometimes, I just feel that, while I enjoy working, I feel that I have to work just to stay afloat in this economic world based upon supply and demand. You can have access to all the supply you want as long as you back up your demand with hard earned cash!!

I am now working three jobs which is keeping me busy at times, going to school, and finding some time for sleep and a bit of socializing. I dream of the day that I will be able to socialize more and work less; however, with the prices of gas and other things going up constantly, one has to wonder if I will ever be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

My solace, I find, is my blogging....Thank goodness for this outlet of mine.

What type of ball and chain do you feel constraining you these days???? and, do you see hope for getting away from this ball and chain feeling that you have presently in your life????

Just curious...

Hmmm ball and chain... how about a 10000lb gorilla on your back... I'm approaching a serious transition from school to work and there may be a few lean months ahead, the family gets to be a heavy burden when the pay check dries up.

Hello TxRose! WOuld you believe that my ball and chain is my house? I can't bring myself to take the time and get away from it. I know that it sounds ridiculous but if I leave for a weekend I worry about who will water the yard, plants, feed the cats and all of that. I have been looking at motor homes lately, used of course, and may just sell this place and hit the highway. I do not have a job that ties me down becuase I managed to retire from the rat race earlier than most people. How is retirement? It's great and I wonder now how I ever had the time to go to work!

My ball and chain is my job as well, TxRose. I thought it would be really cool to work at home. I thought I had finally landed that dream job you mentioned - the one that lets you make ends meet and still have time for a life... I was wrong.

I've been thinking more and more lately that I'd be better off if I just let it all go. I don't have a wife or kids, no one to care for but myself... I'm thinking about dropping off the grid completely and writing novels until I get something put together that Ican get published.

The only problem is that I have student loans to pay, and I already spent so much time building this "career," that I am having a hard time letting go of it even though it makes me very unhappy.
