Annabelle, the pot bellied pig!

Ok, ok, ok... I know that I should be working on my school stuff, but LOL!!! Too funny!!! I was rolling with laughter about [blog boobalha]'s newest blog about a cathouse!!! and, it reminded me of a pet that we once had that made our family unique...

We got a pot-bellied pig when we lived in SC!!!

Now, before you go "Ewwww!" or "What was our TxRose thinking???", hear me out!!

We (my 2nd husb and myself) got my daughter a pot-bellied pig one year for her while we were living in SC. It was small and tame... and was a natural vaccuum to any crumbs that might be laying anywhere in the house!!!

and SMART! My goodness, she was a very smart pig!!! (Besides the fact that she automatically went to the potty in a cat litter box better than any cat did!!)....

My daughter had an old chest of drawers that was starting to fall apart. We threw away the chest of drawers, but kept one of the drawers to make a bed for Annabelle by putting a pillow in it, as well as a blanket. Annabelle loved her bed and would climb in it and pull her blanket over her. I kid you not!!! I wouldn't have believed it, had I not seen it with my own eyes!!!!

She loved those long dog treats as well and would dangle it outside of her mouth like George Burns would do his own cigar!! It was too funny.

Daughter would also take Annabelle on a walk with a leash.... until, we discovered that we really weren't supposed to have a pot-bellied pig in the city limits!!! Oooops... We told her that she had to walk it in the backyard.

We we moved back to TX, we gave that pig away. It was interesting enough to have ourselves in the mini van with two dogs (one a chow/lab mix dog named, Sporty, and a sharpei named, Tia) -- even had to resell the Koi we bought from the pet store which had grown from about 2-3 inches to over a foot by the time we had left SC.

Anyhow.....if I had it all to do overagain, I would most certainly get a vietamese pot-bellied pig again.... but, I guess that I would need to get a house in the country somewhere to do so!!! lol...

LOL... and to my beau, are you sure you really prepared for me???? hee hee...

Why, thank you! I will forever wear it as a badge of honor now, no matter how often I am called a "pig". *smile*

Hi Tx Rose,

Read the city or town ordinance carefully and check the wording. Some are simple and say no swine period. Some say no farm animals. Some say exotic animals are not allowed and some say that exotic animals are allowed. Use their wording to your best advantage.

For example: if exotic animals are not allowed….its easy to prove that these pigs by this time are no longer exotic animals! They have been bred in the United States for a period of years, so for all intents and purposes, they are no longer exotic.

Take care.
Keep On Blogging!!!! Have a great day.
