A new bookcase!

Ahhhh... I thought the simple answer to my dilemna in my bedroom was to get this wonderful 4 to 4-1/2 foot tall bookcase; however, now, that I got it -- what do I put in it???? lol.....

I am trying to decide between my videos....or maybe all my school books.... etc.

I have one bookshelf for special projects that I am working upon, as well as training books for the various non-profits I am involved with....and, another bookshelf, is filled with my Guatemala materials and related travel type stuff.....

but, what about this bookcase???? lol....

I JUST received the delivery of this bookcase just moments ago....and I am sitting looking at it trying to decide what to put in it... lol....

frbnkslady - Thanks... great ideas. It is slowly but surely taking shape, indeed.

YOu place your most cherished and favorite books on it. Ones you reread all the time. Is what I did. I had over 30 boxes of books in my basement, that I gave away when I moved, and I had about 4 boxes on my shelves.
Mix keepsakes in with the books, place pics of friends/places in front..It will take shape..

alice593 - Yes, I do... Thanks for your suggestions...

WizardTim12 - Actually, that is part of the problem. I need about 10 of these shelves... but, I have only one... so deciding what gets shelved first is the trick!!!

Tricky question. I'm not usually in that position, because anytime I buy or assemble a new bookcase, I just grab the nearest couple of hundred books that don't have a home, and problem solved.

If you're thinking that my purchases far outstrip places to display and store, you'd be right. Sigh. (Big project coming up is to get at least basic floor to ceiling shelving along a couple of walls, and really tackle the problem, but haven't done it yet).

I like the first gentleman's idea, very good suggestion. Since that one is taken, I'd say reserve it for your favorite re-reading material. The stuff you'll look back at over and over, just because you like it so much. For me, that would be my favorite novels, but I don't know your reading tastes. It might be non-fiction for you, or a combination. I have a small white bookcase that has some of my early book acquisitions, and they're stored there because the bookcase is one my grandfather built for me when I was about 6 or 7.

Enjoy the new space. I'm envious.

You could put pictures of your friends and family on top and on the top shelf. Like Lipator said, put some of your best sensual readings on the second from top shelf. Put your new sex toys in a box, and put them on the next shelf down. Your great ideas to others could go on the bottom shelf. Hope you have four shelves. lol

Maybe you can put all your sensual/sexual type reading. I am sure that will fill the bookcase up very quickly. Maybe, you could start off by allocating a shelf to them.
