Out with the Old, In with the New

I have this plant.

It’s an Aphelandra squarrosa

A zebra plant.

I brought it into my home.

Got it a nice new pot.

The best potting soil money could buy.

I watered it every few days.

Removed the dust from its beautiful leaves when it needed it.

Even trained Baby the Cat not to “play” with it.

I loved that plant.

I asked very little of it.

To bring me moments of happiness as I admired it’s beauty.

It started taking things for granted.

Losing its leaves.

I tried really hard to give it what it needed.

It became unsightly.

A joke in the Blogs.

The pleasure I expected from it was no longer there.

I replanted it outside in the garden.

Now it will have to fend for itself.

Today I came home with a new plant.

It's drooping leaves came to life with my gentle care.

It likes the new pot.

It loves the sunlit bathroom.

Let this be a lesson.

Wishes for your "new plant" to grow in your light, as well.

I enjoyed your analogy.
In this life, we too much grow, sometimes, unattended.

It knows the rules....it can flourish or wither by it's own will.
