The Urban Dictionary states that:

1. Metrosexual

A straight man who embraces the homosexual lifestyle, i.e. refined tastes in clothing, excessive use of designer hygiene products, etc. Usually is on the brink of homosexuality.

Metrosexuals apparently are not afraid to embrace their feminine side. The "metro" prefix indicates this man's purely urban lifestyle, while the "sexual" suffix comes from "homosexual," meaning that this man, although he is usually straight, embodies the heightened aesthetic sense often associated with certain types of gay men.

My question is this...Are these men straight, gay, or are they just bi or bi-curious? What is your take on "Metrosexuals"?

I assumed this term descibed men who adopted these practices as a way to attract women. By paying attention to personal details a woman might notice(because she would be doing similar things to make herself more attractive), a metrosexual would be employing an extra tactic to attract the most appealing women. In an urban environment, there is more competition, and just being an attractive manly guy might not be sufficient to spend quality time with the most desirable women. I never really considered this in terms of sexual preference. But I suppose any man who is obsessed with his appearance might be a bit too enamored with the male body to be considered straight.

mmm .... Metrosexual .... isnt sad how humanity consistently must catalog and catagorize itself? According to the definition (barring the embracement of the homosexual lifestyle) that sounds like any well dressed and well groomed man in Boston, San Francisco, Dallas or Houston or any large metroplex (1 million or over)
