Cuts Like a Knife-or-The History of Tread Depth

Imagine if you will for a moment... A knife, like a steak knife, with a little wider blade, buried in your back up to the handle. Couple inches right of your spine, just below the belt-line. Slight angle downward. It's not bleeding, and someone trimmed the handle down to a short little nub for you so your cloths will fit. The handle was trimmed because the knife has been there for three months.

This is what it's felt like for me since the middle of May. I'm in a state of dull, deep pain when I'm sitting, sleeping, or standing. Sleeping is the worst. I can't even begin to tell you how long it's been since I've slept for more than 60 minutes at one time without having to adjust my position in the bed. Or sometimes I just have to get up and walk around.

But today, this blog is actually about something else. Something else entirely different. It's about comments. That's right, comments like the ones you've been leaving on everyone's blogs for the last two hours.

I recieived my first comment on this blog on
9-16-05 at 11:40 a.m. In October and November of '05 there was alot of talk going on in the blogs about comment whoring, so I did a little thing called "Comment Whore Weekend" in November of '05. My comments doubled in less than three days. At some point in January, I received comment number 500. I remember who it csme from, but can't remember what post it was on. I just went looking for it, but since she's no longer on the site, her comment is no longer visible.

Shortly after that, in February, I used this blog as an outlet to harness my feelings after the death of a friend who also happened to be my boss. His death was completely unexpected. Died in his sleep at the age of 45. I didn't know what to say, but I knew I needed to say something. And this was where I was able to say it. And to those who commented on that post, thank you.

Shortly after that, I started posting less and less. Things changed at work, things changed around the house, and where I used to try to post once a day, my goal now is to post four times this month. I think this is number three.

But todays post... this one right here, is for you the reader, to give back to me. Because you see, this post I feel will be the one where I receive my 1000th comment. Quite a milestone for me. A big enough milestone that it might just make the pain go away in my back. Just a little bit. At least long enough to get a good nights sleep.

If reaching your comment goal helps to alleviate the pain, make sure to tell your doctor about it. Perhaps it could help others also.
Seriously though, I hope your doctor can do something to help you out. Back pain is the worst.
Good luck on reaching number 1000!

Ugh, sorry about the back pain. My knee is screaming at me about the heat and humidity here so I can relate. Hope the 1K mark helps ease the pain, if not a good stiff drink might help.

Have tongue, will use it. Repeatedly.

UGH, back pain...I can relate. Have you ever tried getting a steroid injection?

I had one a year ago, and it's like night and day difference. Get your doctor to refer you to a neurologist....and get an MRI....course it's possible you might need back surgery, but then again, maybe he'll refer you to a pain specialist and just get an injection. It helped me a lot, but I am now in need of getting another one.
I hope you get some relief soon, cuz it sucks and I hate knowing you are in such pain. Take care and we'll catch ya later, ok!

Love... Slide
