Average age of correspondents

I went through my recently expanded watch list yesterday, and computed the average age of the people I read most regularly. I was surprised at how old it was-- 38.2. And it would be a lot older than that, except for two women in their mid twenties that dragged the average down dramatically. I guess that proves that I have a taste for older women. (And I have to admit that one of the younger women is on my watched list just so I can drool at her breasts every day or so. She's got really great breasts. Even if she were a complete idiot, which she isn't, I'd like to look in occasionally.) But most of my blogging seems to have to do with emotional content and intellectual satisfaction these days, and I guess that older women appreciate being appreciated more.... Whatever goes on among the "boys and girls" here really seems to belong to a different world these days....

Since when is 38 old. And you're 'how old' yourself?

A person is only 'older' when they are 'older' than you... and substantially 'older' at that. The same with 'younger'. If you're a 50 year old man, loving and preferring 'older' women means loving and preferring sweet sexy firecracking (or sweet sexy calm) septuageneraians and above. Otherwise, it's like a 40 year old man claimnig he loves 'older' women.... and the average age he's talking about is 26 (yeah, that's really old. no really) while what he really prefers is 15 and 16 year olds he can ogle.

See what I mean, now? I don't know, man, your entire post reeks of .. something vile, something insulting. So I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're trolling, you're being intentionally nasty towards women of all age with your comments as part of a persona that isn't really you. Should I?

I certainly did not intend to nasty to women of any age. I'm assuming that you alreadsy know that I'm 57. It says so right under my picture, so let me see if I can reword this in such a way as to unoffend you. I'm an old codger... somewhere between years and decades older than almost anybody else out here, and I'd grown used to the perspective that compared to me, everyone out there is much younger than I--in many instances, young enough to be a child of mine, if I'd ever had any. Instead, when I crunched the numbers, I found that the average age was much closer to my own than I had expected, and that if I remove the couple of mid twenty somethings that skew the average way down the average is up to 39.9 with ages ranging from 30 to 55. I dunno why, but I'd gotten the impression that the site is overloaded with children, with a handful of adults. My numbers belie that impression, at least for Blogville. We're actually dealing with a much more adult data base than I had been expecting, with about one fourth of my data base at 31 or younger (i.e relatively children). I certainly wasn't using the word old in any kind of pejorative sense, I was just saying that relative to what I was expecting, the makeup if this group is more "mature" (if that is a more acceptable word) than I had anticipated. Not a complaint at all, just an observation. If anything, I'm happy to find that I'm not quite as isolated from everyone else by my age as I thought I was...

Is that any better? I certainly apologize if my comments offended you in any way....

Hmmm, caught with my hand in the cookie jar...

Let's see if I can exctract my foot from my mouth on this one.

It seems to me that there is a different standard between posts of younger people and older. Although guys of any age are liable to be posting entries entitled "Hot 4 U 2nite! Cum and get it!", the age range of guys doing that kind of post tends to sway much, much younger (like in the 19 to 25 range). I see titles like that (and there seems to be a new batch of them every day, and I want to sweep them away into a playground, where they can practice exposing themselves to each other, and leave Blogville to the adults who are here more to communicate and develop relationships (not that most people here wouldn't mind if the relationships that develop eventually get more.....physical, but I don't think it's the immediate goal--it just isn't really feasible, geographically speaking, for one thing. But the younger guys seem to they if they show up and wave their members around, that some hot chick is going to come running, and then they get pissed when no one is as impressed as they expected them to be.)

Similarly, a lot of the younger females I've read in the blogs seem to be more into swapping stories about this encounter or that, which mostly draws the previously mentioned studs swarming about, trying to be their next encounter. I've noticed that among the women on my watched list, they still attract some guys who are there to slobber all over them and make rude comments, which draw brief comments that are mostly not particularly encouraging. Eventually these guys go off and propostition other women until they find someone (or not) willing to respond in accordance with their wishes.

I was tempted to drop a complement on your blog, similar to what I said here, but that seemed to me to be the blatant kind of smarmy remark that I find so offensive when other guys do it, so I tried to make an anonymous, oblique reference. I dunno why I thought I'd get away with it (other than the belief that I really need to get over, I suppose, that I'm being read only by a small, select audience of regulars). So today, I get two comments from people I've never seen here before.

I feel like I'm tripping over my tongue and making it worse.

I would like to be able to make comments and compliments without feeling like I'm being crude and disrespectful in the ways I see too many other guys doing. With most of the women I talk to here, that isn't a problem. I'm able to be honest, complimentary, maybe a little bit flirty (although I don't think I do that very well), and appeal to their intelligence, grace, or tastefulness. When I look at your picture, I feel like one of the knuckle-draggers who are incapable of being any more articulate than the guy who's email so offended you. I don't know how to deal with myself.

Thank you for appreciating my attention and my comments. I just hope that I haven't offended you, also.

(But damn! looking at your picture makes me horny....)

wow, those are beautiful breasts, lol!!!
After reading your post, and then the comments following, I'm glad that I did interpret it the way you meant it. {=}
I like the evaluations you do smo. You provide a refreshing niche of your own to the blogs. I appreciate and admire the thought and effort you put into your analyses, and also into the comments you leave on other blogs. I'm curious about a lot of the same things myself, but I don't pursue them as much as I possibly could. I'm glad that there's someone here who does.

Ma! They're ganging up on me again!

It's almost easier now to reference you to the response I made yesterday to curiousinlorain7. The same range of emotions prevail:

gratitude, embarrasment, denial, and annoyance at letting the secret out....

and everything you say feels like the kind of reaction that I'm trying to achieve, but I'm just so uncomfortable with apparent success that I want to run and hide (and I'll admit to thought, but deny effort--that's just the way my mind works--the hard part is articulating it sometimes, and sometimes, the post that started this is a good example, it all comes out wrong).

Thank you. (squirm)

Darn those younger women always messing up the curve... Of course the argument could be made in their favor that since I'm 48 ( not that I am assuming you read my blog at a level to consider me... i'm just saying) i might be solely the reason for bringing that blog age up

Please be assured that you're on my list...

If you weren't than I would be extremely ungrateful to one of my most regular readers (and commenters).

I didn't find anything offensive in your post. Being a woman, I notice the average ages of the Blogs, both men and women, I frequent. And most are in mid 30's and up...mostly because this age range of people have life experience and a lot of thoughts to ponder. There are several young, good writers out there, but I tend to read people in the same general age range who I find similarities with. I just generally think more mature people have more interesting things to say, that's all.

I agree wholeheartedly, but still, it's nice when you can find a younger person with a more mature attitude and set of values. Makes me wonder what kind of growing up they had, and certain circumstances will certainly make you grow up faster.

I didn't have to deal with any of that, so I'm just getting to grow up now that I'm too old to be young any more. But then, I knew at a much younger age that I didn't want any children to cause me to age prematurely...

Those damned women in their mid twenties...always dragging us down!!!

"I agree wholeheartedly, but still, it's nice when you can find a younger person with a more mature attitude and set of values."

I wholeheartedly disagree. We're older, smarter and waaay more tormented!! Blogville belongs to US!!! Let them play in their own sandbox.

LOL....
