Racial Discrimination

Ok it appears that I have to edit this post because certain poeple have missed the point and believe that I'm trying to accuse others of race discrimination or creating an uneccesary issue. I'm not! So i'm gonna go ahead and erase the first paragraph so that everyone can focus on the real point!
Now I can understand a straight woman not wanting a gay or bisexual lover but in this day and age should we still be hung up on skin color when it comes to who we associate ourselves with? Now I do understand if thats just an "innocent" preference then I respect that. When I say innocent preference I mean one not rooted in archaic thought or bigotry.Innocent Preference means the same preference that some women may have for taller men or hairy men. So for those whose choices are rooted in "innocent" preference this blog is not talking about you.
Maybe its just me but I have never once changed my views or behavior towards someone because of their race. I I like you then you're clearly a likeable person, if I dont like you then you're an asshole. My 3 best friends who I call my brothers are all white. And i feel as comfortable with them as if they were my blood brothers. The only time its drawn to our attention that we have differing genetic backgrounds is when closeminded people think its funny to comment on my being the "Token Black Guy" or some other off color remark. Even then or friendship holds solid because we're above petty differences.
And as for those people who claim to have friends from different races but frown on interracial dating; Whats the deal wth you guys. We are all human beings and we will NEVER i repeat NEVER progress beyond our medieval social stigmas if we continue to raise barriers were they shouldnt be.
I'm tired of hearing the argument from so many that interracial children dont know who they are and thats why its better that they didnt exist. BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The reason that there're any social problems with interracial children is because you (the general public) create them. You drill it into these kids minds that they have to adhere to the stereotypical behavior of either race. Why cant they just be themselves? Perhaps they love linedancing AND gangsta . Let them embrace any culture they like. Who cares!!! They are individuals and should be treated as such. Wake UP America you hold the power on this world. With great power comes great responsibility, set an example and I guarantee we will see marked improvement in racial affairs everywhere!
Sincerely Yours,
Smoothness84

Hmmmm...could it not just be a personal preference? We all have our preferences and they vary from person to person. I don't date men shorter than me. I don't date black men. Do I care if others do? Hell no. Everything doesn't have to be a race issue. Your profile excludes me because of my age. Does that mean you are guilty of age discrimination?

Bicurintx2006, I do respect anyone's personal preference as long as it is an "innocent" preference. Also I think you missed the point of my blog. i wasn't accusing that member of discrimination. i was simply using that example as a startpoint for my topic. Everything does not have to be a "Race Issue" I would actually prefer if we never had to mention race again. Read the blog again and see if you get my point on the second go round.

Well darlin', I don't think I missed your point. You weren't accusing them of discrimination, but you used what they said as an example of it? Seems to be a fine line there, don't you think? You've been called the token black guy. I've been called a niggah sista by the black girls at work. Should I be upset about that? Or, should I take it as a compliment because that's how they meant it? What if I had called one of them a niggah sista? Do you think they would have liked that or gone to HR and reported me? Racial discrimination is a very difficult subject to discuss and very few people will agree on it and what needs to be done about it. However, I don't think that out of the 3 races, any one group can say they are more persecuted than others. It's how you choose to live your life, which makes the difference.

No offense intended but you appear to still be missing my point,so I'm gonna aim this post at my other readers. My rant is not specifically about black people its about ANY race.Just because I happen to be black(actually a mixture of black, welsh, guyanese and english)many assume that I'm an "ANGRY BLACK MAN"" Uhhhh no. I'm beyond that. I dont like seeing anyone discriminated against! Those who truly understood the blog will know that!
PS-I'm talking about being singled out for vicious purposes in my token black guy comment.
