Camming and Scamming... guess we have all been there...

I posted yesterday about 'fake' profiles. One couple commented on how they had been 'scammed' by a guy pretending to be a woman.

I think most of us have been there. The one exception I guess would be straight women. I don't think there are many bi-sexual or lesbian women out tthere pretending to be men so they can talk to women. Other than that you can assume that at one point or another when you thought you were chatting or e-mailing with a 'woman' it was really a guy pretending to be a gal.

The one main instance for myself happened several years ago. I was camming on another website (the names will be omitted to prevent the wrath or AdultFriendFinder). The site worked in much the way this one does so I was sitting in my 'room' and people would pop on and chat with me - the camming was one-way, I could not see them. But I was not doing anything, the camera stayed on my face and I was actually doing it while working as a way to pass some time, just chatting when I could.

Long story short (not really possible for me), a 'woman' came into my chat room and was really flattering, wanted to chat more later that night, and we did (once again, thankfully I wasn't doing anything I would later regret - lol). This flirty chat went on for a few days and then things got weird and suddenly the person on the other end of the IM said he was her male friend and she was unavailable and blah blah blha, a bit of net sleuthing by myself revealed that this same nickname had been posting on bi-sexual message boards (why didn't I look before? why would I?). The person denied it but it was pretty obvious I'd been duped. Lesson learned and sadly to say I think I have put off a few women since then because I was a bit too paranoid.

So for the women reading this, don't be shocked when a guy acts a bit warey of you, I have gone so far as to ask a new female friend to take a picture of herself holding up a sign with my name on it (she did and we are still very good friends to this day).

And to the guys that seem to get their jollies pretending to be women to hit on both women, men and couples, well..... you guys suck - lol.

ps.... update on the subject of my 1st post.... not a peep from her since yesterday morning.... hmmm.... maybe 'she' is a he, yeah, thats what I'll tell myself to feel better!!

We have had to deal with our share of impostors. Some guys will go to any length to be able to chat about sex ..... would imagine that these individuals never actually find a woman to chat with so they go this route. The sad part is that these games can drive people away from the site as they just don't want to bother with the bullshit..... Cathy
