Dreaming of Bermuda...or Hawaii...or Mazatlan

I think I hate winter.

Or at least I hate the cold. And the wind. And the snow.

We got 18" of snow in a 24 hour period last week and I don't think its ever, ever going to melt! The roads in town are the pits and now they're predicting 60 mph winds tonight which means snowdrifts!

Wonder if I'll be able to get to work tomorrow? Damn...probably...only live about 5 blocks from work so I don't think they're going to believe that I can't get there.

Note to self....next time you move, don't live so close to work!

Only cool thing is there are some amazing icicles coming off the roof. There's one that's nearly to the ground and I've threatened the kids not to touch it! If it ever gets clear to the ground I plan on taking pictures.

Now how exciting is that?

I grew up in Massachusetts, I know what you mean.
I lived right by the cape cod canal. The windchill factor used to drop us into the -20s (twenty below zero) from time to time and when we'd get a Noreaster you wouldn't believe the snow drifts. Sometimes they'd cover one house and the house next door would have barely any snow on the ground.
I almost miss it, now that I'm thinking of it.
That wouldn't last long though. I'm cold if it's under 50 degrees out now. I've been in So. Cal. for 18 yrs now.
I'd fall to the ground intears if I ever got stuck out in below zero temps.

Now THAT would be exiting....lol..

I would probably take a picture of the icicle now and another when it reaches the ground.

Oooohhhh, cold off the water is absolutely bone chillin'!

Amazing how you get used to that warm So. Cal. so quickly, huh? I remember sitting on the deck in Huntington Beach one Christmas, drinking strawberry daquiris and thinking "where the hell is the snow?" Got over that really fast! Used to go up to the mountains near Perris (Julian, maybe?) and fill the back of the pickup with snow...then drive like hell back down to the house before it melted just to have snowball fights in the driveway!

Oh...and I missed the icicle...melted enough today that it crashed.
