I love to dance

I was watching "Shall We Dance" again for the fourth time. I love to dance. Most especially swing (to old rock and roll) and blues, but I will dance ot most anything. I was going thorugh some old files and ran across something I put together years ago. Eventually this will be apoem but for ow it touched my heart to remember.

Dancing is the loftiest, the most moving, the most beautiful of arts, because it is no mere translation or abstraction from life; it is life itself. The material for the dance is the air, the movement is breath and the source is love. Nothing is more revealing than movement. The dance is a poem of which each movement is a word. Dance is a delicate balance between perfection and freedom. Dance is a life at its most glorious moment. The dance - it is the rhythm of all that dies in order to live again, it is the eternal rising of the sun. The dancer ought to be light as a flame. Dancing is like robbing a bank, it takes split second timing. Dancing is a silent poetry. Those move easiest who have learned to dance. A time to weep, a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance. A dance is a measured pace. He who cannot dance puts the blame on the floor. The modern dance has advanced by leaps and bounds. You need more than dancing shoes to be a dancer. As the drum beats, so goes the dance. Those who dance are thought mad by those who hear not the music. I would only believe in a God who could dance. I say unto you, one must still have chaos in oneself to be able give birth to a dancing star. Every dance is a kind of fever chart, a graph of the heart. The poetry of the foot.

The poetry of the foot...the sway of the hips, the brush of body against body, and finally the fragrance of a partner, those are things we think of when dancing.

Then there is the dance that happens when no one else is home and you crank the music loud and just move, you and the beat.
