Being present!

I have been having several discussions over the past week on my trip as well as previously with some of the wonderful inhabitants of blogland about what it means to be present.

This was initially centered around the art of kissing. If there are any Heinlein fans out there, they may remember Valentine Michael Smith in "Stranger in a Strange Land." It was said women loved to kiss him becasue he was totally focused on the kiss and nothing else. That is truly being present. To be aware of the softenss of her lips, and the slilght movement as they part. The feel of your tongue slipping between those lisp and contacting the tip of hers. It is in the awareness of the beating of two hearts and the gentle shifting to allow for not bumping and mashing noses. It is the silkiness of her hair as you slide a hand up to caress her head. If you can keep your awareness there then you are truly present.

So what would it mean to be present as the sensual exploration continues?

To me it means to surrender, to lead slowly, and to accept any outcome. I enter into love making with an expectation of achieving joy, but not on how to reach it. This leaves us both wonderfully creative.
