The Race Thing, Pt. 2

I must reaffirm my stance on the issue of race from my earlier post. It seems this site IS a representation of the broader population. There is certainly no shortage of discrimination going on here. White women do not typically reply to my emails. They may view my ad, but that is about as far as they go--at least 90% of the time.

Even fewer responses from Latinas and that's a damn shame. I'd think the minorities might be more respectful of one another, but it appears that Latinas are just as discriminating and prejudice as the whole population. Of course, blacks are equally discriminating.

Where am I going with this? People claim to be "open" to others, but really they are not. Most of us are pretty narrow-minded about our preferences. The fact that there's such a shortage of equal opportunity on the most liberal of liberal websites makes a big statement about human nature.

It takes away our sense of prejudice to be able to say, "One of my best friends is black." But if only ONE of your best friends is black, you're probably not making any effort at all to know black people. You're only mingling with those that naturally drift your way, as in a co-worker. The same goes for other ethnicities.

I imagine most people here are looking for their dream "freak" who mostly resembles themselves in skin color. Sure, some want to go to the other side and see what it's like, but deep down that's only about satisfying a curiosity, not getting to know the person or come soul-to-soul. That would be too much like exposing one's own fears.

Here's the deal. Limiting yourself to your preconceived image of the perfect "freak" only limits the possibilities. If it were that easy, you wouldn't be here in the first place. The fact that you are looking for same person here that you didn't find in the real world ought to be a hint that you won't find him/her here, either. Wake up; smell the coffee!

That dream white guy ain't out here, just like he wasn't there in real-time. But that's probably expecting way too much to think that persons will change their ways. I way more comfortable to stick to same old losing profile and keep hoping rather than make a 3rd order change and give real consideration to the persons that are giving YOU real consideration. Get that? If not, keep working with it.

Anyway, it's not a bad deal for Da Brother to stick with the Sistahs. They are, after all, bronze and beautiful...God's creatures, and often, truly divine!

I'm still optimistic about being inclusive of MY choices. I can't base my actions on those of others, esp. those who maintain simple worldviews. Got to do my own thing. That means being open to those who choose me as well being open to those whom I choose.

"I've yet to meet on this site a small woman. That is, a woman of petite to medium proportions. I'm beginning to believe only large women live here. Where are the small sisters? If you are out there, please get in touch."

You say people claim to be open to others, as you are claiming, but you post this in your blog.

You say to give real consideration to people that give you real consideration. Would you give a bigger woman real consideration?

Think about it. Sounds to me in your blog that you have your own preferences, just as everyone else does.

I gave you consideration until I read the above-mentioned blog of yours. Now seeing that you only give consideration to petite to medium women. Is that not exactly what you are talking about with the race issue?
