The Desert Test

A Japanese personality test

Use this Japanese Personality Test to determine your personality based on your view of animals!

You will need to write down the order you sort out the animals, and post this order.

You have been travelling through the desert for days. You are tired and water is running low. You have with you the following five animals:

A cow

A lion

A monkey

A horse

A sheep

You only have a limited amount of water left - not enough for you and all your animals to escape. If you run out of water all of you will die in the desert.

You realize that if you are to make it out of the desert at all, you are going to have to make a tough decision. You are going to have to leave one of the animals behind so that the rest of you may live.

Which animal do want to leave behind?

You have 4 animals left. The desert is burning up! It goes on for miles. Sand is everywhere. Your water supply is running even lower than you first thought. You realize, to get out, you are going to have leave another animal behind.

Which one do you leave behind?

You have 3 animals left. Walk, walk, walk... Hot, hot, hot... Disaster! The oasis that you were looking for is dried up! You have no choice but to leave another animal behind.

Which one do you leave behind?

You only have 2 animals left. It's a long hot walk. You can see the edge of the desert way on the horizon. Unfortunately, you don't have enough water left for three. You can only leave the desert with ONE animal.

Which one do you leave behind?

Congratulations! The two of you made it out of the desert!

Ok, since this is a holiday, I will post the answers on Wednesday morning.

Mav

Hey Maverick,

Firstly I would leave the lion, then the monkey, then the horse and lastly leave the sheep. I will walk out with the cow...it provides me milk and transportation to the end hopefully...the practical side of me is deciding...

The Answers are in: I will be back later to answer to each of you individually.

Analysis

Based on Japanese Archetypes the desert represents a hardship. Each of the animals represents an aspect of your life. The order in which you sacrifice the animals might be said to represent the importance of these things to you. The one that you sacrificed first is the least important. The one that you kept is the most important and represents that thing which you cling to at the expense of all others.

1 You sacrificed the Cow. The Cow represents basic needs.
2 You sacrificed the Lion. The Lion represents pride.
3 You sacrificed the Monkey. The Monkey represents your children.
4 You sacrificed the Sheep. The Sheep represents friendship.
5 You kept the Horse. The Horse represents your passion.
