Useless Gadgets

Just read an article about gagdets you buy and never use, the ones that are a complete waste of money.

Here's the list of some of the worst:
Ice-cream maker
The Fondue set,
The keep-fit video
The foot spa
Toasted sandwich maker
The bread maker
Yoghurt makers
The electric juicer

Got any others you would add to the list, things that are just taking up space around the house

Now, I have to say I have used the fondue set, foot spa and bread maker...

But yes, I hang my head in shame about the ice-cream maker, keep-fit videos (but they're on the shelf if I ever get the urge, LO and juicer. Ohmigod, I need a yogurt maker, too?

I am very proud of myself that I was able to prevent the husband from buying the toasted sandwich maker, and better yet and much more seductive in his eyes--and not on your list, lagano dear--the deep fryer, aka "Fry Daddy." He snuck behind my back to order the bacon-wave and egg-wave. The bacon-wave broke quite rapidly and the egg-wave caused eggs to explode all over the microwave. I was not pleased. And I, fool that I am, ordered the perfect pancake maker. Hmmm...notsomuch.

So...there you have it. Infomercial/store display susceptibility, American style.

Well asian equiv. of the deep fat fryer is a rice cooker (well sort of) and we have at least 3 of them but I don't know why.

I begged and begged for a fodue set for Christmas one year. My best friend got me a gorgeous one. Only used it once! What a waste!

If the Fondue set is your thing you should try the asian equivalent, the hot pot cooker.
Its a induction type hot plate that sits on the table, place a metal saucepan on top and fill with water and then cook meat and vegetables at the table, a bit like a family barbeque except its all boiled instead of grilled. Used regularly here in winter months.

"How about the eleteric nose hair trimmer"

I don't have a hairy nose, so no need of one. I guess you must, seeing as you mentioned it!

Yes, no doubt, all guys have nose hair "issues", except for asian guys who seem to generally have a lack of body hair.

Speaking of gadgets, I have seen a book about weird Japanese gadgets call Chindogu.
It's such funny and interesting book, check out this website and you'll know what I mean

One of the most useless gadget that I have is a bag sealer.

rm_lagano replies on 5/7/2006 7:28 pm:
Ha yes,
I would have imagined that Japan was the mecca of useless gadgets actually.

One of the "almost useless" gadgets is one of those storage bags that you can pump the air out using the vacuum cleaner. It "almost" becuase it did have one use one time to get even more into a suitcase.

I must say, in defence of the Toasted Sandwich Maker, that this little invention has been my saviour, saviour of many disasterous dinners'.

I ain't no Nigella Lawson or Jamie Oliver, last nights burnt scrambled eggs prove that.

Cheers to the Toastie Machine, Tickles

The Toasted Sanwich Maker is obviously making a comeback, I now feel the urge to rush out and buy one!!
