SEPT. 11, 2001

Today on this 5th anniversary of 9/11 I find myself to be reflective. All day I've watched coverage and listened to interviews of survivors. Through their recounts I have listened to their private thoughts and what was important to them in that they commented that you tend to take so many things for granted everyday. I was taken back to what I was doing that day and how I felt as I watched the towers fall; our innocence dispersed like the swirling cloud that followed the collapse. We can't go back but we can go on with these important lessons learned we all can be survivors.

This day is one that needs to be burned into the psyche of this nation to keep us on alert to be ever vigil to the evil in the world that would want to harm us any way possible. This is a reality of this world today and we have to make sure that is the message that all our young people get so that we never get caught again with our pants down. All of us in the U.S. have grown too trusting and naive and this day has to keep reminding us to not get too lax in our everyday lives. We need to be aware of what is going on around us because it affects everyone around us.
