What is in a name?

Do you know what your name means? Most names have meanings in their original language.

For instance, Kelli is an American spelling of Kelly, which means "warrior woman" in Gaelic.

But the meaning of my real name is "slender and fair". Can you guess it? My middle name means "grace". I think my mom was hoping for a ballerina, and instead got a girl that the ballet teacher used to wince when I came through the door.

What is the meaning of your name, your real name? Don't need to give the name, just the meaning.

According to my dictionary, it's a form of Marcus.
And Marcus means "The God".

From the Greek name Ιασων (Iason), which was derived from Greek ιασθαι (iasthai) "to heal". Jason was the leader of the Argonauts in Greek legend. He went in search of the Golden Fleece in order to win back his kingdom from his uncle Pelias. During his journeys he married the sorceress Medea, who helped him gain the fleece and kill his uncle, but who later turned against him when he fell in love with another woman. This name is also used in Acts in the New Testament to translate the Hebrew name Joshua.

A little too much conflict but what the hell...

I guess your real name is one of the following:

Keelan, Keelin, Rhonwen, Rowena

.... eliminating the last two, that leaves Keelan or Keelin, so which is it I wonder ?

According to the internet my first name Mark actually means "Warlike" ..... ummmmm .... another warrior

.... and my second name means "God is gracious"

.......... cool ! - a balanced mix of light and dark !

my real name means "noose/ yoke" and my middle names are "rebel" and "promise to God"... when i found out what my name meant as a little girl, i cried a lot. i think it is hideous -- and it is a VERY popular girls name, especially in england and the US.

None that I know of, but it sure suffers from various permutations and misconstructions. Occassionally asked if I'm Japanese because it sounds like the former name of a city in Japan.

English in origin from the French via Greek, meaning God's gift, which in my case is a gag gift.

Michael - "who is like God"

It's actually my middle name, but it's what I go by, and I legally truncated my first name to just the initial.

I commonly joke about how I "used to be" a bratty "spoiled kid" who always had to have his way.

Looked up the meaning and origin of my real name.

Absolute Ruler

My mom would have said that it fit me.

water lily -- water -- lily!

I guess that makes it official! I love floating in water and being grounded, rooted in the earth! I am much more open at night. And, one of my friends likes to describe me as a sweet fragrance.
