Sounds like a tittilating adventure.
So what are the two most common problems presented to you as a sex therapist?

You are a treat. I love the complexity of your thought process. "Sometimes it is impossible to know if I'm creating sexual chemistry in my head (seeing what I want to see as we all do this to a large extent) or if it is really there."

It seems to me, particularly in some recent experiences, that people's experience of sexual chemistry is dramatically different. As you say, "we all do this."

I say, "We're all sexual beings, and it infuses our life, sometimes with joy, and unfortunately, often with denial of sexual feelings." That denial is such an unfortunate reality in so many relationships where intimacy is bartered for compromise in other areas. People are missing out themselves in addtion to compromising the strength of the relationship and the desire of their partner.

When sexuality is treated as something that can be withheld and bartered, I often feel that people (and unfortunately women in this sexist society) may lose the ability to get back to joyfully embracing intimacy and sex. There's certainly a lot of married people on this site looking dishonestly outside a challenged marriage.

Thanks for being a sex therapist and hopefully starting to turn this around for our species. People need hugs; people need skin contact; people need to happily look into eachother's eyes; people need to joyfully share the vulnerability of desire.

Damn. Time for a cold shower.

I know exactly what you mean though. A lot of Japanese women have that look, that so innocent look. Ah, the sweet sakura. Of course they're probably forced to grow up schooling themselves to look that way because of their culture. I couldn't even imagine. But it's still darn hot.

Of course my brief experience with German women is short spiky hair and an, "I'd as soon kill you as look at you," attitude. Well, okay, maybe not that bad, but possibly only because we were working together. In a purely social setting I might have been spot on. But then Germany has so many subcultures, so it's all so confusing. Hell, life is confusing. The world is confusing. Why should anything make sense?

Okay, I'll shut up now.

Well, except for one last comment. A sex therapist? Yikes! A regular therapist is bad enough. I'd be afraid of some of the things you've probably heard. It can be bad enough when it's good. I don't even want to think about what dysfunctional nightmares are out there beyond the ones I've lived through. Have a glass of wine on me. Hell, have the whole bottle. I bet there are some days you really wish you could forget. Of course there are probably some days where you absolutely love your job too.
