Remembering Emerald Rose

I read a post earlier today that has had me thinking about my daughter, Emerald Rose all day. I've mentioned before that I have 4 children, which I may never say again. I have 5. You see, Emerald Rose, the third of five, never had a chance at life. She left this world with a knot in her umbilical cord two short days before her intended birthday. She would have been 10.
Dad loves you Emerald.

Like a comet blazing across the evening sky,
Gone too soon.
Like a rainbow fading in the twinkling of an eye,
Gone too soon.
Shiny and sparkly and splendidly bright...
Here one day, Gone one night.
Like the loss of sunshine on a cloudy afternoon,
Gone too soon.

Like a castle built on a sandy beach,
Gone too soon.
Like a perfect flower that is just beyond your reach,
Gone too soon.
Born to amuse, to inspire, to delight....
Here one day, Gone one night.
Like a sunset dying with the rising of the moon,
Gone too soon... Gone too soon.

I cannot tell you how much it hurts me to hear that. As the father of two daughters....I cannot even contemplate it.

I am so sorry for your loss.

(p.s. -- where's the poem from?)

Thanks Seriously
The Poem was written by Buz Kohan from one of the many sites dealing with this sort of thing.

I am so sorry for your loss. I do not have the words to adequately express my thoughts to you. I have five sons and everyday I thank God for their health. And pray for their safety. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and this lovely poem with us.

The loss always helps me appreciate all the more, the things I have.
Thanks for your share earlier.

I cannot imagine the feeling... even though 10 years have passed... my heart goes out to you, to your family... a father's love is never ending. Elysian

Thanks Elysian.

When I posted a prayer in my blog today, I really had no idea why I was doing it. Maybe this is why. I am very sorry for your loss. Any sadness I may have felt is trivial in comparison. (((gerson42))) Mac

Sometimes things are just meant to be. I read earlier a post from southrnpeach which prompted my post. Your prayer was fealt. Please, no sadness should be trivial nor compared.

I am so sad for your loss. There is no greater pain than the pain of losing a child. Devastating. But you can find joy in your 4 wonderful children that are here with you.
Thank you for sharing something so personal.

I agree, the loss was undeniably the most painful experience of my life.

Message to Bipolybabe.

I accidentally erased a comment from you. My intention was to re-edit a reply to you. Your comment was and is important to me.

The comment paraphrased was: Emerald Rose, what a beautiful name. Thanks for sharing her.
and my reply is;
Emotions swirl just seeing her name in print. I can still see her in my mindseye.

Sometimes you can only understand, if you've been there.
Thanks for the hug.

At a loss for words but sending comfort and hugs your way. My friend lost her baby 2 days before her due date and it was the saddest most heartwrenching experience as a friend, I could only imagine what it must be like as a parent. After the funeral, she gave us all a star to remember her baby by, I still have it hanging up and will add Emerald Rose to my thoughts and prayers.
