Got kicked out of another museum...

This aircraft has been photographed so many times mine seems redundant to the point of extreme silliness.

This is MY picture. I took it. After walking two laps around this beauty at a VERY slow pace.

This is the only airplane that I know of that was specifically designed, built, and flown with the express purpose of preventing war. It never carried a weapon, and was so extraordinary in its performance that it was never shot down.

It is fitting that it has the focal point in this museum. Without this airplane, several (that I know of, perhaps many more) crises in the last 50 years might have gone much differently. Despite the politics and gnashing of teeth, we are still the least destructive country to have this much outright power. To put this airplane, instead of the Enola Gay, which is a much more historic artifact, in the center to be seen immediately on entering, is a bold statement. The Enola Gay is about 200 feet to the left of center, btw, and they COULD have put it here.

I suppose the most amazing fact about this airplane is that it was designed and built before computers were used to build airplanes... This came from the mind and hands of men, one man in particular. Kelly Johnson. There are people, just by their existence, who change the world. He is one of them.

Ahhhh...I am so jealous! I adore the Smithsonian. It's so incredible to see all that history and read about all the people who changed the world.

Such a bad boy. Did you get to the spy museum yet?

"Such a bad boy."

Not sure what that refers to...
