You know in life when you get to a place of comfort. The place where you feel at home a safe place for body and mind.
Well it got me thinking its something that a lot of people need.
As a child some of us had a Sukey rug(comfort blanket) or a favourite teddy that would be taken to places that were new or ones where for one reason or another felt scary. Or as an adult you don't want to part with a shabby pair of jeans, Or a pair of trainers way past there useful stage but you feel the mould to your feet, Or the person that needs to be loved, Or and probably the most dangerous the comfort food eater.
What is the body and mind seeking?
My belief is that its looking for a place where the actions will go unchallenged a place of safety.
What do you think?
Do different type of people have a greater or lesser need for this. Do some not need it at all.
I would say people who think with the heart have a big need for a comfort zone, Don't know do head people need it.

I agree with Hugs..blogville is a comfort zone, so is my bed with the big down comforter, my garden, my sofa in front of the television, these are all places of comfort for me no matter my moods.

Everyone desires a place of comfort. Mine is work, where I am in control and somewhat respected (ok, mayde I AM really delusional).
But, I think what we all desire and strive for is a place of comfort that rests with others. A place where we are accepted for who we are. A place where our bad points are taken in stride, and our wonderful attributes are held close. A place where we can love freely, and receive love as freely. A place where we can go that eases all the pains of the world.
What is it that I call this place? I call it love. It is not a physical place, but a spiritual place.
OK, you can see I think with my heart. My head has nothing to do with my mind. LOL.
thank you for making me think today,

firehot2003 - I believe that when someone is in touch with their feelings "a heart person" they can find comfort. " Head people" don't deal emotionally with such things....they also need/want comfort but rarely seek it out. Just my opinion... I'm happy to say that I'm a heart person.

the comfort of familiarity stopped me doing things for so long....glad to let it go......but yes we all want to feel safe both physically and's a constant search cos nothing stays the same and life is a bit like shifting keeps blowing in the wind....

I have many comfort things.. wonder if that is a bad sign. I like to wear my pjs, I still have my blanky, and no matter how hot I have to have my blanky. On a tough day.. coffee and chocolate... when l'm hurting its music and long walks... I walk quite a bit.

i wouldn't know cos i never had any of those things. when i was not-quite-five i was taken to another country away from everyone i knew and most of my toys got left behind -- given out to other kids. i hid under my bed a lot as a child, but i wouldn't exactly call that a comfort space.

maybe that's why i find it so impossible to attach, why attachment scares the hell out of me.

3/19/2006 2:14 am you know the film "Song of the South"? It has a song in it called "The Laughing Place". Brer Rabbit sings it to Brer Fox and Brer Bear. It goes like this: "Everyone has a laughing place, a laughing place, a laughing place" ha,ha,ha,ha,ha. Repeat incessently..
Anyway Brer Fox and Brer Bear find out that Brer Rabbit's laughing place is rather different than their idea of a laughing place. Brer R. fools B.Bear into going into the bushes to investigate the laughing place and comes away with a wasp's nest stuck on his nose and of course takes it out on Brer F, when he starts to berate him. Brer Rabbit was laughing though and so was I . 'Cus it was funny.
