Weekend Riding Adventure

This weekend I decided to take my horse out for a ride. I had bought a new saddle and wanted to try it out. So I saddled up my horse and we took off. The problem was that I did not cinch the saddle down tight enough. She took turn and the saddle started to slip down her side. I could feel it going and decided to try and jump clear.
My horse is a Percheron. She is a big draft horse. Her back comes up to nose level on me. I am six foot tall, so you get an idea of the height I was at. My foot hung up in the stirrup a little and I twisted my leg on the way down. I fell with my arm under me. Don’t worry, I didn’t break my arm, my ribs took all the impact.
Final count, a cracked rib and a blown out knee that will require surgery.
At least I didn't get stepped on. If you have ever been laying on the ground next to a huge horse who is spooked and rearing, you know what real fear is.
So how was your weekend?

Saintlianna, yep that is the kind of horse I was on.
Angelgrrl, I’m limping and breathing is not a lot of fun. I need a knee meniscus repair but at least I can walk. It could have been worse. Otherwise, I am doing alright.
Pet, thank you for your well wishes. I will be out of commission for a bit, but I should be back to riding soon. And I should be able to get back on a horse soon too.
