getting wax out of my carpet

Just before my daughter left me, she insisted we light candles. Unbeknownst to me, she lit my newest candle with its uncut 2 inch wick: needless to say, it burnt hot and fast and quickly ran out onto the floor.

Being a kid, she tried to hide what she had done and tried to mop up the mess with a dish towel. So, I'm left with wax stuck on my carpet and wax in my dish towel.

I've been picking at the wax regularly but it's time consuming and doesn't work really well. I tried washing the dish towel but the wax is still there. Does anyone have any advice on how I could solve these problems?

When I want to get wax out of a holder, I put it in the freezer. It works like a charm. You might try concocting something that would freeze it where it's at and then it might "pick" better. Good luck.

Okay, I checked Household Hints & Handy Tips by Reader's Digest and both of the comments above are very on target. The book indicates instructions to the effect of placing ice on the dripping or mess, let it freeze as much as you can - scrape off as much as you can - do this several times. Whatever is left can be addressed via an iron and blotching it up with a cloth.

Good luck!!!

Are you sure you want to remove it? Seems she left it to remind you...
